Marketing - Events Manager







Position: Permanent
Position Type: Full time - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Location: Toronto campus - 306 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M4N 1T7
Branch: Marketing Communications

About the role



Reporting to the Executive Director, Community Engagement and working in close collaboration with the Head of School and department and project leads across two campuses, the event manager will be responsible for supervising and organizing TFS' signature events, acting as a coordinator for event scheduling, and supporting and advising departments on the logistical planning of departmental events. The manager will be responsible for the following:

Main duties


Planning events on behalf of the Head of School from start to finish according to the requirements, target audience and objectives in collaboration with the Head of School or other event partners. As a member of the Community Engagement committee, managing the event calendar and event approval process for the school. Working with the marketing/communications team to ensure branding and promotion are timely, attractive and accurate. Supporting fundraising and donor stewardship, school-based informational events, etc. through developing and providing toolkits for event management and being the main point of contact between departments and the facilities and catering staff to coordinate their support of the event. Managing event budgeting and ensuring invoices are approved and processed according to school policy. Liaising and negotiating with vendors and developing a list of preferred vendors to be shared as a resource to departments. Creating event management committees made up of colleagues and volunteers, assigning tasks and managing their work to completion. Creating workback schedules, allocating resources in planning events; managing "day of" execution. Obtaining permits when needed. Developing event feedback surveys; compiling post-event reports and making recommendations for future improvements. Participating in meetings and/or events outside of regular business hours as required. This includes nights and weekends. Performing other duties as assigned.

Diploma or degree in marketing, public relations, business or hospitality Experience in coordinating or managing large and small event Superior project management skill Proficiency in various event-related software (Canva, Monday.com, Raiser's Edge NXT, Mailchimp, etc. Communication and marketing skill Good leadership skill Highly organized multi-tasker with strong time management skill Expert interpersonal and collaboration skill Knowledge of the local industry and area is an asset Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
