Marketing Coordinator

Thunder Bay, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

The TBSO is hiring a Marketing Assistant. This is a salaried, one-year, part-time term position, with the possibility of becoming a permanent.

The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra serves the entire Northwestern Ontario region by providing outstanding classical music performances and education programs while striving to be the best regional orchestra in Canada.

We are seeking a motivated and creative Marketing Coordinator Intern to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in arts marketing, audience engagement, and communications within a professional orchestral environment.

As this position liaises with multiple working groups, and the public, the ability to communicate clearly via phone, email, and zoom, and in person is a priority. As well, given that this position requires independent problem-solving, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. As you are expected to be at events, you require your own transportation.

The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra values diversity and strongly encourages applications from individuals in historically underrepresented groups: women, Indigenous Peoples, People of Colour, LGBTQ+ individuals.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the development and execution of strategic marketing and fundraising campaigns for concerts and events. Create content for print materials, newsletters, and the TBSO website that aligns with brand voice and audience goals. Design and coordinate production of promotional materials and mailouts - programs, brochures, posters, sponsorship asks, etc. Track and analyze marketing data to assess campaign performance and inform future strategies. Support community outreach initiatives and develop partnerships with local organizations and media. Assist with planning and execution of on-site promotions and front-of-house marketing at concerts. Maintain marketing databases, mailing lists, and archives. Contribute to audience research and engagement strategies.
Required Skills:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, communications, public relations, media studies, arts administration, or a related field. Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills. Familiarity with marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics). Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop. Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to balance multiple projects. A passion for the arts, creativity, and community engagement.
This internship offers in-depth mentorship and professional development in arts marketing and communications, ideal for those pursuing a career in the cultural sector.
