UTSC Management is a world leader in providing undergraduate business education that is heavily influenced by experiential learning and internationalization. Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Assistant Director, External Relations & Communications, the Marketing and Communications Officer will create and write compelling content and stories that elevate the management brand to a wide global audience. You will join a talented team of professionals driven to contribute to career outcomes for co-op students and build an engaged community of raving fans. You will be responsible for executing innovative marketing campaigns that support departmental goals, academic programs and events tailored to specific target markets. You have the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of talented management students and directly support their growth and development by facilitating marketing workshops and coaching co-op student presenters and speakers. You will be responsible for mass marketing across multiple channels to target industries and employers to support employment outcomes for management students. Your diverse lived expertise, creativity and innovation is key to expanding digital content that is accessibility to diverse students and external audiences that is authentic and meaningful. You will be continuously challenged and join a curious and innovative team open to new perspectives and collaborators.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering relationships with internal and external contacts in the coordination of marketing activities
  • Analyzing data to ensure effectiveness and ongoing ROI for marketing efforts and initiatives
  • Developing and implementing marketing plans to promote programs, events and/or initiatives that support strategic objectives
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Promoting events and programs to target audiences
  • Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) administrative guidance
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, ideally with a focus in marketing, PR or communications or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing integrated communication projects
  • Proven track record in managing a variety of creative, persuasive and cost-effective marketing communication projects, from conceptual stages through delivery and follow-up/evaluation, including proven experience in outsourcing graphic design, advertising, social media, or other creative services, and event concept creation, planning, and management
  • Experience writing content, developing themes and maintaining consistent brand identity for multiple audiences and platforms, including presentations, print, online, digital websites and social media platforms
  • Experience advising on the effectiveness of digital marketing, social media strategies, and web strategies through reporting on key performance indicators (e.g. Search Engine Optimization)
  • Experience promoting events and programs to target audiences on digital channels or event platforms
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills, and knowledge of graphic design principles for web and print communications
  • Advanced skills in social media platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and newsletter and marketing platforms (e.g. Symplicity, Mailpoet, MailChimp)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability implement and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills with excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills

Assets (Nonessential):
  • Advanced skills in content management systems (e.g. WordPress and Drupal) and in the use of Adobe Creative Suites (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver)

USW Pay Band 13 -- $76,284 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,556. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
