The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the YMCA's marketing and communications strategy across Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the coordinator works closely with both the internal marketing and communications team and other stakeholders to execute various communications initiatives. Key responsibilities include writing and drafting communications, managing updates and social media schedules, supporting updates on the YMCA website and intranet, and e-communications to enhance engagement and promote the organization's programs and services. The Communications Coordinator operates within a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all communications align with the YMCA's values and objectives while delivering impactful content to various audiences.

What You'll Do:




Content Creation & Design

: Develop and maintain engaging content across digital and offline channels, adhering to brand and editorial guidelines. Produce high-quality visual and written materials, including video and photo content, and contributes to the annual social media editorial calendar. Design or reformat promotional assets that support marketing goals and reflect the YMCA's identity and values.

Marketing & Communications Strategy Execution

: Support the implementation of the YMCA's marketing and communications strategy through coordinated project management and production efforts that align with organizational objectives. Work in close collaboration with the Marketing Manager to ensure strategic consistency across campaigns, content development, and digital initiatives, contributing to increased brand awareness and program visibility.

Digital & Social Media Management

: Manage daily operations of the YMCA's digital platforms, including the website, social media channels, mobile applications, and e-communications. Ensure timely updates and audience engagement while executing social media strategies and campaigns that promote events, fundraising efforts, and community initiatives. Monitor interactions and maintain a consistent brand voice across all platforms.

Internal Collaboration & Event Support

: Collaborate with internal teams to provide digital support, content creation assistance, and training that enhances communication efforts across the association. Assist in the planning and execution of special events, managing logistics to ensure smooth operations. Provide administrative support including media list management, proofreading, presentation preparation, and customer service coordination.

What You'll Bring:



A degree or diploma in a related field, such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Journalism Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant experience. Experience with enterprise-level social media, web content creation, coordinating design, print, and audio-visual production. Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft 365). A positive attitude with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet the deadlines. Flexibility in work hours and location, some travel required for this role. Must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check and three professional references.

A Major Asset If




Experience with tools like Canva Pro, video editing programs, iMovie, and other video editing softwares. Experience with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing software (e.g., Constant Contact, Marketing Cloud).
