Job Description



The individual in this role will support the development of the Canadian brand strategy, and execution of the promotional marketing tactical plan to support the launch of our first investigational genetic therapy for hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia).

This individual will be responsible for personal and non-personal channels. The successful candidate will have an ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change, demonstrate strong communication, work effectively within cross-functional teams, and have a problem-solving, analytical, and customer mindset. Prior experience in hemoglobinopathies, cell or genetic therapy, infusion center/bone marrow transplant, and/or hospital-based experience will be beneficial in this role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with commercial team members and cross functional partners to help shape the brand strategy, segment the market, develop messaging, and support the launch our investigational therapy
  • Supports the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans
  • Engages with the HCP community and other key customers for SCD and TDT, including both transplanter surgeon/staff and referring hematologists, to understand community challenges and opportunities, influence perceptions, and to develop advocates
  • Will develop and executes multiple digital and social media, and educational campaigns for the SCD & TDT patient and HCP communities
  • Collaborates with Patient Services teams to help insure a seamless patient experience.
  • Collaborates with Vertex external communications review committee to approve materials for external use with customers
  • Generates and consolidates key insights across stakeholders through market research, advisory boards, etc.
  • Develops strong partnerships with cross-functional team to support business goals
  • Ensures appropriate metrics are in place to measure impact of tactics in field
  • Manages agency partners to ensure on budget and timely deliverables
Travel Requirements:
  • Ability to travel 10-20%
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required and eight years of experience in marketing, consulting or agency experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Haematology, Hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia), cell and/or genetic therapy experience is a strong asset
  • Experience working with and or developing tactics for diverse audiences and complex marketplaces
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage initiatives that require collaboration across multiple functional areas.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, courage to ask, "how might we?" and "why?" and an ability to successfully challenge status quo to develop innovative creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong written communication skills, presentation delivery, and interpersonal skills to be effective in a team environment.
  • A solid compliance mindset and demonstrated integrity on the job.
