Job Description


Summary Reporting to the CEO, this position initiates and manages communications with internal and external stakeholders to advance the objectives of AHPCA. The Marketing and Communications Specialist also actively seeks out opportunities for fund development that are consistent with the Association\xe2\x80\x99s mission and values, and plays a key role in the coordination of fund-raising activities and events. Position Duties and Responsibilities Communications/Public & Media Relations

  • Organizes the representation of AHPCA to the media, public, hospice palliative community, and government
  • Works with the media to increase awareness of AHPCA and its mission
  • Manages and updates social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Works to transform the social media \xe2\x80\x98followers\xe2\x80\x99 into \xe2\x80\x98members\xe2\x80\x99
  • Develops and implements a Communication Strategy for the Association in consultation with the CEO and Board of Directors, including a plan for membership engagement
  • Collaborates with program staff to actively promote and support program activities and events
Administration
  • Coordinates the maintenance of the Association\xe2\x80\x99s website - updates and adds information as needed
  • Maintains and updates membership database, coordinating with Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association where necessary
  • Maintains and updates internal G Calendar for various departments
  • Maintains and updates internal depository
  • Completes various day to day office administrative tasks under the direction of the CEO
Writing and Publishing
  • Creates, writes, and distributes seasonal newsletters and regular email communications to members in accordance with the Communication Strategy
  • Creates, writes, and distributes internal communications
  • Assists the CEO in researching areas the Association may pursue for fund development, i.e., soliciting new donors, applying for grants, etc.
Meeting and Event Planning
  • Responsible for the Casino and other fundraising events, including event planning and organization, recruitment and scheduling of volunteers, and carrying out administrative tasks as required
  • Facilitates internal training sessions in consultation with the CEO
Qualifications
  • Communications experience with some fundraising experience in a non-profit environment is preferred
  • Related University Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Communications/Public Relations/Non-profit management and/or Fundraising OR a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a communications role
  • Familiar with CRM, Social Scheduling tools, G-Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent social media skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
  • Maintain a positive image and professional work habits and represent AHPCA in a professional manner
  • Conduct business according to highest levels of confidentiality and privacy laws
  • Ensure honest, open, and accurate communication with the CEO and Board of Directors at all times to promote transparent leadership
