JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for consultation with staff on communications strategies and projects; researches, develops, and coordinates implementation of assigned marketing campaigns from concept development and writing materials, to design of marketing collateral in various formats (print, web, social media, video, digital, etc.); prepares reports and presentations and represents the Marketing and Communications Division on various internal project teams and working groups.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles and strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in web and print publishing software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite), including Microsoft Office Suite with accurate keyboarding skills of 50 words per minute.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of graphic design, page layout and presentation concepts with strong visual and artistic design skills, including knowledge of printing, photo reproduction and other processes and their application to the work being represented.
  • Experience with web content publishing and web content management systems, including HTML editors, basic web page design, effective content flow and content creation for the web. Ability to edit and optimize images for the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to take quality photos and videos and use photo/video editing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including strong presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in writing, editing and proofreading a variety of media with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, show initiative and creativity, exercise good judgment, and act with tact and courtesy in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/deadlines.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain neat and accurate records, files and documents related to the work.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, design, or equivalent.
  • Combination of two years work related and on the job experience.
  • Valid B.C. Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (minimum level \xe2\x80\x9cN\xe2\x80\x9d).
