The Market Worker ensures that the objectives for the Market at the Lighthouse are carried out and works with the Community Ministries Program Co-ordinator to further develop the program to align with The Salvation Army\xe2\x80\x99s Mission, Vision and Values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Connect families with Pathway of Hope Caseworker.
  • Work with Community Ministries Program Co-ordinator to maintain food supply.
  • Participate in Food Forest planning alongside Community Ministries Worker and Community. Ministries Program Co-ordinator.
  • Support Market and Food Forest Volunteers.
  • Ensure volunteers have appropriate breaks.
  • Ensure consistency in service delivery via maintaining policy and procedures (e.g., pricing, re-stocking shelves, ensuring that the each of the clients has a consistent experience, etc.).
  • Submit required reports to donors and partner organizations.
  • Enter data into Link2Feed.
  • Present stats and stories for Market at the staff weekly meeting and to be used by the Community Engagement Coordinator.
  • Assemble flyer highlighting grocery deals, communicating TSA Events, and a message from the team.
  • Support Special Events (food drive, holiday train \xe2\x80\x93 scheduling, set up, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships with grocery partners.
  • Participate in relevant training.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


Qualifications and Education requirements:
  • NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation.
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two academic years in a related field.
  • Alternative combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
  • Two years of prior related experience including up to one year of work in community/social services or experience in non-profits.
  • Proven experience and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience utilizing online data databases/programs; highly efficient computer user.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army\xe2\x80\x99s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
  • Ability to keep confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate comfortably with fellow staff, volunteers, clients and community partners.
  • Exceptional organization and timekeeping skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving: able to create holistic programs that meet communal need(s).
  • The performance of the job requires the ability to work independently and under pressure, while ensuring the functionality of the ministry.
  • The successful incumbent will be an optimistic and hard worker, ready and able to lead a team through transition with kindness, compassion, and efficiency.
