Job Summary:

At Vertex, we're relentless in our pursuit of scientific innovation to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. The individual in this role will support the development of the Canadian brand strategy, and the creation and execution of the reimbursement plan to support the launch of our first investigational genetic therapy for hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia) as well as our current Cystic Fibrosis Portfolio. Reporting to the Market Access Lead, the Market Access Senior Manager will be contributing to the Market Access strategies for the Vertex portfolio. Working alongside the Associate Directors, the successful candidate will assist in preparation of the reimbursement dossiers, economic model adaptations for CADTH, INESSS and private insurers (cost-effectiveness, budget impact), support the potential access programs and implementation planning and, support in the pricing negotiations among others.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides input into the Canadian Market Access strategy for Vertex portfolio
  • In collaboration with the Public Affairs teams drives access at the National and Provincial level as well as with private payers.
  • Assists in the development of market access materials (submissions, responses, background documentation, strategic support documents).
  • Defines payer evidence requirements for the country, with a clear understanding of trade-offs.
  • Defines reimbursement and access flows, in collaboration with the Head of Market Access.
  • Works closely with medical affairs, legal, regulatory, market access and commercial teams, building and leveraging relationships with relevant stakeholders in line with Vertex's approved and agreed business strategy.
  • Ensures compliance with the PMPRB for all current and upcoming products
  • Acts as the main point of contact for accounting, finance, contracting to ensure internal processes are followed
Required Education Level
  • Pharmacist and/or Business School or Specialized Master's degree in relevant area of expertise (e.g. epidemiology/ biostatistics, engineering, health economics, public health, public policy) from an accredited university required.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with prior significant experience in market access, gained in an industry or vendor/agency environment.
  • Experience in direct interactions with payers.
  • Experience developing and/or adapting global economic models to meet country specific HTA requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the proven ability to effectively analyze data sets to determine trends and establish strategies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cell and Gene Therapy and/or rare disease market; market access experience in cell and gene therapies preferred
Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required
  • Oral and written fluency in French preferred
