As a division of Grieg Seafood, Grieg Seafood Newfoundland (GSN) is establishing sustainable aquaculture operations in Marystown, in the heart of the Burin Peninsula. To support this continued growth, we are seeking Marine Site Assistant Managers to join their team in Marystown! In this vital role, you will be instrumental in guiding their Marystown operations to new heights. You\'ll be at the core of a dedicated team, fostering a culture of excellence and leading with innovative vision. Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and mentorship to their team of Aquaculture Technicians, shaping the future of marine stewardship.
  • Collaborating with Health & Safety teams to implement sustainable and safe working practices.
  • Driving operational efficiency, ensuring their site functions seamlessly and upholds the highest standards.
  • Actively contributing to their marine strategy, bringing fresh perspectives to their weekly meetings and planning sessions.
  • Managing resources adeptly, overseeing critical tasks such as equipment upkeep and strategic operational planning.
  • Championing the welfare of marine life and environmental conservation with every decision.
  • Applying strong problem-solving skills across various site management aspects, from feed management to quality assurance.
  • Engaging in and advocating for environmental monitoring and the adoption of cutting-edge sustainable technologies.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • A background in Aquaculture or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of salmon operations and biosecurity protocols.
  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude, capable of engaging a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications. FishTalk experience an asset.
  • A commitment to teamwork in a collaborative environment.
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills.
Work Environment:
  • Outdoor setting, immersed in the natural beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • An active role, combining various physical activities including kneeling, bending and lifting.
  • A unique work schedule offering a balance between work and personal time: Seven days on, followed by seven days off. 80 hours bi-weekly.
