Open dialogue and critical thinking are valued along with the application of knowledge and collective ideas to plan and execute complex marine operations. Our Marine Operations team has an impressive track record with an extensive list of past projects including marine loadouts, heavy lifts, platform towing and installations, topsides float-overs and deck mating, mooring operations, subsea installations, decommissioning and platform removals to name just a few. Team collaboration during design and planning is followed by field execution and delivery to our clients. Some days it may be quiet office work with planning and analysis while other days it is active field work during mobilization and execution of marine operations. Individual contributions and team collaboration are key to the team\'s success.Aker Solutions, at our St. John\'s, NL office currently supports local and international projects ranging from traditional oil and gas developments to leading edge renewable and sustainability concepts including offshore wind and aquaculture.West White Rose CGS Tow and Installation Project scheduled for Spring / Summer 2025: Float-up in dock; Tow to inshore Site; Inshore Site Activities (
30d); CGS Water Ballasting; Tow to Offshore Site; Installation at Offshore Site.What will you be doing?

  • Plan and execute Marine and/or Subsea Operations in a safe and systematic manner.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of multidiscipline teams.
  • Collaborate and work closely with team members that may be located at other work locations (both function and project).
  • Interface with other project disciplines, clients, contractors, sub-contractors and regulators.
  • Develop Tow and Installation project safety, environment and emergency response plans.
  • Perform HSEQ review, evaluation and follow-up of sub-contractors.
  • Inspection/auditing of sub-contractor facilities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Reviewing designs and project execution plans to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in audits of vessels to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as Transport Canada, provincial, and CNLOPB. Focused on the Occupational Health and Safety regulations under every jurisdiction.
  • Review scope execution plans that may be completed at other contractor work sites - liase with other contractor HSEQ personnel to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and lead project HAZIDs / HAZOPS as required.
  • Support PREs and steward the close-out of action items (sub-contractors, vessel audits, HAZID\'s/HAZOPs etc.) - ensure action close-outs meet safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Tow and Installation operational execution teams including HSEQ follow-up, reporting and incident management, as necessary.
  • Position is based at Atlantic Place in St. John\'s however, periodic project local, national, international and offshore travel may be required.
We think you should have:
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).
  • Familiar with Marine Safety Regulations (Transport Canada Marine and CNLOPB).
  • Familiar with Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Marine Technical and Operational Competencies are considered an asset.
  • Basic Emergency Management.
  • Experienced in leading Marine Incident Investigations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an integrated project team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is mandatory.
5 yrs relevant work experience in leading and executing safety programs in support of marine operations such as towing and installation, subsea installations etc. * Educational requirements should include relevant engineering, technology, mariner and/or safety/ degree or diploma.
