About the Position:

The Manufacturing Specialist (Welder) position is an important core production position with a primary responsibility for production welding but also includes responsibilities to assist as part of a small team in other production processes when not welding. This position will work with other production staff to ensure continuous improvement in production processes.

Bluestreak Equipment Inc., founded in 2005 is a small but leading manufacturer in the field of magnetic sweepers. Bluestreak designs, manufactures and sells a broad range of standard niche products globally to an also broad range of industries from roofing, construction, mining, manufacturing, shot blasting, military, to recycling, landfill and airport operations. Approximately ninety percent of sales are to export markets outside of Canada. Many products are made to stock, and others are made to order.

About the Work Environment:

The successful applicant will be working with a close-knit small group of individuals that functions as a cooperative team with a focus on quality and meeting production orders to fulfill customer orders and stocking requirements. The main production area where most work is performed is temperature-controlled year-round (heated and cooled). Noise levels most of the time allow for comfortable conversation.

Manufacturing Specialist (Welder) responsibilities:

-MIG Welding of Steel, Stainless Steel and aluminum related to the production of standard company products using jigs/fixtures as a primary area of activity and responsibility.
-Operate light machinery, including saws, punch presses, grinders, drill presses and hand tools and various other pieces of machinery/equipment to assist as part of small team in other production processes when not welding.
-Manufacture standard products as per product assembly/fabrication and packaging manuals and diagrams.
-Monitor quality of both fabrication and the final product
-Operate forklift and overhead cranes.
-Perform Basic Equipment Maintenance.
-Provide input towards continuous improvement.

General Skill and Personal Requirements:

-High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
-Certified Welder (ability to MIG weld Aluminum, Stainless Steel and Steel)
-Knowledge of Measurements (imperial and metric)
-High level of Manufacturing/Fabrication skills and experience.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
-Ability to read, interpret and understand assembly/fabrication manuals, diagrams for products.
-Ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
-Ability to identify and resolve problems.
-Willing and able to do a variety of different tasks that require attention to detail, manual dexterity, lifting, standing for extended periods, and repetitive tasks in some instances.
-Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
