Position: Manufacturing Engineer with PLC experience
Location: Mississauga
Job Type: Permanent
We are looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer with PLC experience for a great manufacturing client located in Mississauga.Reporting to the Engineering Director the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and leading production engineering projects. This will include continuous improvement and quality improvement initiatives, troubleshooting, new technology recommendations and equipment and process implementations and the managing of these respective projects.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead and manage projects involving new equipment design, installation, movement, retrofitting and/or modification
- Troubleshoot problems (mechanical and/or controls) within manufacturing processes and implement solutions/improvements
- Develop, maintain and improve operating policies, manufacturing/operator instructions and standards
- Perform engineering studies to target efficiencies and develop lean and automation solutions
- Contribute significantly to continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing processes and procedures
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Be involved in the development and implementation of cost and inventory reduction activities
- Address systemic quality issues that result from the manufacturing process including those that may arise from material handling, shipping, assembly, etc.
- Reduce and remove nonvalue added time that is present in the manufacturing process
- Participate in the design and development of new products to ensure design for manufacturability is a focus
- Work with the maintenance group to identify preventative and predictive maintenance practices
- Troubleshoot machinery using electrical, mechanical and control systems knowledge
- Design and procure in-house solutions and equipment
- Contribute to the development of an industry 4.0 environment, connecting existing equipment and tools to ERP software
- Execute other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications and Skills:- Degree in Mechatronics Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience working as a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer in a continuous manufacturing and assembly environment
- 1+ years of experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA preferred
- Experience with assembly automation an asset
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks)
- Demonstrated experience in designing/implementing automation projects
- Professional, creative thinking, team player with an ability to handle multiple projects with the use of effective multitasking and prioritization skills
- Strong mechanical/controls aptitude with hands on experience
- Must be a fast learner and have the ability to understand and be creative with the mechanics of machines
