As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing timely and effective first engineering response to process and product issues on all manufacturing lines in SHS Ottawa
  • Supporting all required QMS activities on the production lines, including short-term nonconformance and CAPA ownership and successful closure
  • Ensuring that short-term raw material, process and product trends are monitored, and time-appropriate action is taken to address adverse trends, where possible
  • Maintaining close connections with Sustaining and Product Engineering personnel to ensure correct engineering decisions with respect to material, manufacturing, and product issues, and to support medium-to longer term initiatives driven by those other groups
  • Maintaining close operating relationships with Operations and QA personnel to support the manufacturing goals of SHS Ottawa
  • Participating as required in Material Review Board meetings and ensure subsequent lot analysis and final disposition decisions are correct and complete
  • Communicating with supervisor and others when issues are detected and improvements required
  • Driving continuous improvement and HPS initiatives related to the scope of work of the Test Engineering team including generation of supporting technical documentation. (i.e., improvements related to direct manufacturing activities)
  • Ensuring compliance to all cGMP requirements including complete and up-to-date training status

Required skills to have for the success of this role:
  • Undergraduate degree in an appropriate technical discipline and/or an equivalent combination of education and industrial experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related industrial experience
  • Experience with process development and validation in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or medical devices is preferred
  • Competency using Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • Basic understanding of statistics is required
  • Experience with Risk Analysis and Root Cause Analysis tools is preferred
