Job Purpose: The person in this role will participate in the development and implementation of new products and manufacturing technologies. They will support in the continuous improvement and problem resolution of current products from the perspective of process capability, process control, perishable tooling performance and process productivity/rate. As part of continuous improvement, the person in this role will be responsible for cross training other team members and participate in creating training material for shop floor.   • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Provides guidance to gear system designers regarding design for manufacturing concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Create CAD models and manufacturing drawings for gear box component ensure customer technical and quality requirements are achieved
  • Performs gear mesh calculations and analysis, cutting tools rollouts to achieve specified gear quality.
  • Performs testing of alternative processes and materials, implement improvements when identified.
  • Researches products, materials, and processes to assist in design and manufacturing of ODG products.
  • Creates and edit BOM and routing entries in ERP.
Manufacturing
  • Development of tooling systems with emphasis on gear generation both pre and post heat treat with focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput.
  • Development of supporting process documentation for gear generating equipment set-up, inspection, and changeover.
  • Provide support on manufacturing feasibility and gear inspection.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Provide shop floor with cutting parameters and machining techniques throughout factory documentation.
  • Maintain centralized CNC program database.
  • Develops cycle time estimates and other necessary information for quoting new products.
Teamwork
  • Work closely with Project Management Team to manage project priorities, prototype builds, testing .
  • Ensure engineering costs and schedules are achieved.
  • Contribute to achievement of and improvement upon engineering performance metrics
  • Facilitates a team-based approach in developing and implementing projects.
  • Works with other departments and teams in the division as necessary.
  • In-depth learning of gear design and manufacturing methods, equipment, and materials.
Educational and Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree/Diploma from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment as a process owner (process, equipment, documentation, special training).
  • Hands on experience machining and troubleshooting of machines or being in a machine shop environment.
  • Experience with gear manufacturing and/or grinding.
  • Comfortable and able to work well as part of an integrated team including skilled machinists, engineers, and management.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with gear manufacturing and/or grinding.
  • Experience measuring and analyzing precision parts.
  • Experience in adjacent gear manufacturing processes such us turning, milling, gear deburring.
  • Capable of programming CNC lathes, mills and/or grinders.
Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum three (3) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in related manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of automated machines/processes, machine tools.
  • Knowledge of Forging processes and gear design/manufacture would be considered assets.
  • Computer based drafting, spreadsheet, and database software applications.
  • Effective communication, training and presenting, teamwork, planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year Benefits:
