Job Summary:



This is a detail-oriented position reporting to the Company Director or Manufacturing Manager, the CNC Machinist role involves operating and maintaining HAAS CNC machines to produce precision rail product components used in rail systems and requires an understanding of machining processes, safety protocols and quality standards



Key Responsibilities:



Operate HAAS CNC machines to produce rail components to exact specifications

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and CAD models to determine machining requirements

Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime

Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with quality standards

Collaborate with production team to optimize machining process

Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and 5S standards

Document production activities and maintain accurate records of machine settings and output

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures in an industrial shop environment

Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



CNC Machining Principles:

Understanding of CNC operations, tooling, feeds and speeds, and machining processes.

HAAS Machine Operation:

Familiarity with HAAS controls, setup procedures, and maintenance routines.

Blueprint Reading:

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD files.

Materials Knowledge:

Understanding of metals and alloys commonly used in rail manufacturing (e.g., steel, cast iron).

Quality Standards:

Knowledge of ISO standards, tolerances, and inspection protocols.

Safety Regulations:

Awareness of industrial safety standards, PPE requirements, and hazard identification.

Machine Setup & Operation:

Proficient in setting up CNC machines, selecting tools, and running production cycles.

Precision Measurement:

Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.

Problem Solving:

Ability to troubleshoot machine issues, adjust programs, and resolve production challenges.

Technical Communication:

Clear communication with engineers, supervisors, and team members regarding technical issues.

Computer Literacy:

Basic skills in CNC programming (G-code), and possibly CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).

Time Management:

Efficiently managing tasks to meet production deadlines.

Attention to Detail:

Ensuring parts meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Manual Dexterity:

Handling tools and components with precision and care.

Physical Stamina:

Standing for long periods, lifting materials, and working in a shop environment.

Adaptability:

Adjusting to changing production needs, new materials, or updated processes.

Team Collaboration:

Working effectively with others in a fast-paced, industrial setting.

Continuous Improvement Mindset:

Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance safety.



Job Requirements:



Certificate or diploma in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience operating CNC machines, preferably HAAS.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.

Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials used in rail product manufacturing.

Experience with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Reliable transportation to and from shop and ability

Availability to work variable and evening shifts



Work Environment:



Industrial Shop setting- PPE required

Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and night shifts

Loud environment, repetitive movements, bending lifting to 50 lbs, interacting with machinery

Shift work
