Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manual Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role is critical to producing high-quality precision components on manual lathes. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in manual machining, strong knowledge of technical drawings, and the ability to cut tapered API threads with precision. This role requires attention to detail, collaboration, and a commitment to quality and safety in every aspect of work.
Key Responsibilities
Manual Lathe Machinist Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes to produce precision parts to specification.
Read, interpret, and follow technical drawings and blueprints.
Accurately cut tapered threads and other custom machining requirements.
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Deburr and clean finished parts.
Maintain machines through routine maintenance and cleaning.
Maintain accurate inspection and production records.
Work collaboratively with machinists, production leads, and managers to enhance throughput, reduce downtime, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Follow all safety protocols, quality standards, and production policies.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years of related manual lathe experience (Journeyman certification preferred); however, motivated apprentices demonstrating strong potential and relevant training are also encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated ability to cut tapered API threads on manual lathes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, solid models, and manufacturing documentation.
Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometres, vernier callipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Strong mathematical skills (fractions, trigonometry).
Problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Schedule & Compensation
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Overtime: Available as needed, including some Saturdays
Benefits: Available after a 90-day probation period
