Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for new talent to join our team! We currently have an opening for a full-time Manager Capabilities, Transportation to join our Supply Chain Continuous Improvement Team.
As a member of the Supply Chain Systems and Capabilities team, come be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team of resources supporting distribution centers across the country. Contribute to generating value through the implementation of innovative and challenging projects.
As a Manager of Transportation Capabilities, you will have the opportunity to drive excellence and optimize our Supply Chain Transportation across the country, helping reduce costs, better service our stores while also delivering best in class innovation in Transportation.

Here\'s where you\'ll be focusing:

  • Provide operational, financial and technical expertise to both the warehouse and transportation teams to implement best practice standards.
  • Review KPI\'s and identify trends requiring corrective action.
  • Support the Development and maintenance of the regional Business Continuity Plans
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where colleagues in your department are encouraged and recognized for generating and implementing innovative ideas
  • Develop and implement \xe2\x80\x9cBest Practices\xe2\x80\x9d and continuously review practices in each RSC Transportation Teams
  • Optimize utilization of Blue Yonder Transportation System in a drive towards automated planning on inbound and outbound loads
  • Assist in the implementation and change management of new process and technology
  • Accountable to ensure the business is suitably trained and equipped to run the business once the new systems and processes have been activated
  • Identify, assess and provide high-level support to the senior management team on potential risks and opportunities of current and future business requirements relating to transportation optimization and system implications
  • Ensure end-to-end development and delivery of high quality business solutions, from the gathering of business/functionality requirements, analysis, design, internal costing, coordinate IT development and testing, to production and post production, on time and on budget
  • Provide authoritative analysis, interpretation and opinion to support and guide senior management and teams, ensuring an understanding and acceptance of issues and influence the direction and nature of programs regarding supply chain initiatives
  • Provide support and coordination to the business in growth and other strategic initiatives having impact on distribution and transportation
  • Provide leadership, project governance for logistics related initiatives
  • Ensure department abides by current OH&S policy and hold team members accountable when they have faulted on this requirement
What you have to offer:
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a dynamic environment leading Transportation Operations and/or Optimization
  • Strong working knowledge of the Transportation Operations
  • Strong working knowledge of Transportation System(s) (implementation experience is an asset)
  • Strong People Leadership skills and ability to remotely manage a national team
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong leader; Self-starter, quick learner and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with being detail oriented
  • Bilingual with French/English is an asset
  • Lean Six sigma Green belt certification (Black Belt is an asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel) and good knowledge of Access
  • Proficiency in building high impact presentations to Senior and Executive Leadership
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to manage and implement change in a team culture with both union and non-union workforce
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and deliver results on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
