Reporting to the Director of Supportive Housing the Supportive Housing High Support Programs Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to multi-service teams within SHIP.

The Supportive Housing High Support Programs Manager will be responsible for managing and engaging teams of staff specializing in community mental health, addictions, recreational therapy, housing stability and nursing. The individual will ensure that strategic goals established are translated into practical action and that relationships are maximized between clients, employees, and community partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Design

  • Manage and plan service delivery and program capacity
  • Monitor performance measures and prepare statistical reports
  • Support Accreditation and quality improvement strategies
  • Manage program budget
  • Provide clients and community with information about SHIPs Supportive Housing model
  • Integrate SHIPs vision, mission and values
  • Ensure high quality service and client, family and staff safety
Lead Team
  • Staff recruitment and orientation
  • Promote staff wellness, development and training
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of direct service staff
  • Carry out the management responsibilities for operating the unit including the annual program planning and evaluation to ensure the strategic directions and annual objectives are achieved.
Develop Coalitions
  • Build and support sustainable and productive relationships with all individuals including clients and families, staff, senior leadership team, the community, stakeholders
  • Attend internal and external meetings and/or committees as assigned
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Contribute to and demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP\xe2\x80\x99s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Demonstrate a positive professional attitude when representing the organization
  • Support On Call duties
  • Adhere to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety
  • Perform additional duties as required/delegated
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a University Degree in social services or a related discipline by an accredited institution or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in housing services or social services field, including demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience
  • Intervention, conflict resolution and mediation
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the housing and support needs of vulnerable populations
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the philosophies, practices and standards relating to Housing First, social housing program design, development, implementation and evaluation
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff in a team setting.
  • Have a diverse, equitable, inclusive, anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens
  • Effective planning, organizational and leadership skills
  • Shows a growth mindset and participates in systems thinking
  • Understands the importance of and wants to collaborate with all areas of the organization
  • Effective leadership, verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the Social Determinants of Health
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • A vehicle, valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, and adequate insurance coverage
  • Valid certification in First Aid & CPR
  • Training in ASIST and CPI

Reporting Function:

The Supportive Housing High Support Programs Manager will report to the Director of Supportive Housing. They will be responsible for overseeing the supportive housing programs deemed high support including the Community Homes for Opportunity (CHO), High Support (Henderson and Hansen), Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) and Back To Home (B2H). They will have the authority to manage these staff members appropriately. They will work with both internal and external stakeholders and will interact with all levels within the organization.

They will be a support system, resource, and an advocate for the team and organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Day shifts (Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday) with the ability to work excess/overtime hours where required
  • Able to work well with internal and external clients
  • Able to drive, walk (site locations) regularly
  • Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use
  • Computer screen use (multiple screens if applicable) for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.)
  • Travel by vehicle to community sites for client support as required
