We are looking for a dynamic Manager, Strategic Communications to join CPP Investments\' Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) team for full-time employment. This role is for you if you are curious, organized, and are interested in the sustainability-related challenges and opportunities investors face today.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Communications this position is responsible for providing research, editorial and coordination support for the development of the Fund\'s internal and external communications about sustainability-related issues, including climate change.

This candidate will develop, produce and publish content across mediums (articles, speeches, presentations, social posts, videos etc.) for internal and external channels.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, demonstrable business literacy and an understanding of environmental, social, governance-related topics. Must have an interest in the global economy\'s net-zero transition.

Activities include:
  • Develop content in support of the Sustainable Investing team and Chief Sustainability Officer.
  • Research and write communications plans, briefing notes.
  • Maintain tracking documents that monitor the external sustainability landscape, staying ahead of relevant industry developments in taxonomies, frameworks, and regulation.
  • Write communications materials that tell the story of the Fund\'s approach to integrating consideration of sustainability-related factors into the investment decision making process.
  • Create and ideate on high quality presentations for use at internal and external meetings. Solicit necessary input from team members to develop presentations.
  • Manage logistics for virtual and in person events, including preparing and sending briefing packages to attendees, developing presentations, agendas and meeting materials.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned relating to the ongoing activities of the Public Affairs and Communications department.
  • Develop and distribute thought leadership and education on energy transition internally and externally in collaboration with investment departments.
  • In partnership with team leads, partner with key internal stakeholders, monitor for relevant developments from regulation bodies as the IFRS Foundation (e.g., proposed International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) to ensure the organization is providing appropriate communications to stakeholders.
Qualifications

Able to operate through ambiguity
  • Self-starter who takes ownership for tasks and team performance
  • Interested in using storytelling across mediums (social media, written, podcast, presentations, reports)
  • The ability to grasp and translate technical concepts
  • Working knowledge of the Task Force on Climate Related Disclosure, evolving ISSB and other sustainability and climate-related reporting frameworks
  • Working knowledge of the global transition to net zero and the role of investors within it
If you possess the following, we\'d like to hear from you:
  • College or university degree required in relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Sustainability, Economics)
  • French fluency an asset
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills, PowerPoint, Word
  • Minimum 3-5 years associate-level or higher, experience in a fast-paced, complex, and high visibility organization
  • Experience in a communications agency, consulting, or financial services environment
  • Commands the ability to distill complex information into compelling, concise content and produce targeted materials for a variety of audiences
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy
  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated and highly effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Robust understanding and proficiency with corporate use of social platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to foster effective working relationships
  • Ability to function well in a professional, high performance, and deadline-oriented culture
  • Able to work flexible hours outside of core office hours as required
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality and exhibiting a high level of professionalism at all times
