The Manager of Sports Partnerships will drive awareness and affinity for CarMax in the sports industry. This role will work closely with our agency partners to oversee and execute CarMax\xe2\x80\x99s sports partnerships across leagues, teams, and talent as well as support the Director of Media and Partnerships and our Brand and Local teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn\xe2\x80\x99t afraid to take initiative with varying levels of direction. A deep understanding of and experience within the sports industry is preferred. Ability to represent the CarMax brand well in front of both internal and external leaders is key.

What you will do \xe2\x80\x93 Essential Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day management and execution of CarMax\xe2\x80\x99s sports sponsorships, in partnership with Agency partners. Ensure sponsorship plans are on strategy, on time, and within budget.

Drive strategy and briefing process with internal and external teams across media, creative, and activation within Sports.

Work cross-functionally with internal CarMax teams \xe2\x80\x93 marketing strategy, creative, social, legal, PR, community, etc. \xe2\x80\x93 to ensure alignment and support of objectives for all sports activations and campaigns.

Manage creative requests and content development, oversee delivery and execution of all assets. Partner with agency teams to measure performance and optimize partnerships.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with sports partners and Agency teams.

Create and lead presentations, recaps, and executive summaries to varying levels of leadership.

Support the Director of Media & Partnerships to plan and manage the annual Sports budget.

Stay up to date on the competitive landscape, best practices, and current trends within the sports industry.

Purpose of the role

This will be a key role within the CarMax Sports team and requires a collaborative and confident rising leader who is passionate and knowledgeable about the Sports industry. This person will have a proven track record of using data and innovative thinking to drive business outcomes. The ideal candidate will be results focused, delivering and expecting accuracy and great attention to detail. They will also have agency experience and the functional expertise to understand how the work gets done. This person will also be able to excel in building relationships at many levels \xe2\x80\x93 from junior staff to senior leadership, both internally and externally.

Qualifications and Requirements

5+ years of experience in the areas directly relevant to the responsibilities of the position

Experience with agency/client relations, either on the agency side or on the client side

Experience managing large marketing budgets and ability to think strategically

Effectively builds strong relationships internally and with external partners

Powered by curiosity

Champion of new partners and disruptive technologies and methodologies

4-year undergraduate degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Sport Management, or related field
