Purpose of Job:

As a member of the Global Retail Provisions Methodology team, contributes to the overall success of the Global Retail Provisions team who are accountable for establishing prudent levels of loan loss allowances (ACL) for the Retail International and Canadian portfolios and Canadian Small Business portfolios. As a business user of the IFRS9 loan loss provision models (the “IFRS9 Models”) the Global Retail Provisions Methodology team is responsible for the operational activities of these models while supporting testing and implementation of changes to existing or deployment of new models. The incumbent will oversee and assist the Director, Provision Methodology and Senior Manager to coordinate the timely execution of all control analytics documentation and reporting for all monthly and quarterly IFRS9 ECL processes including the critical management adjustments to reporting and analytics requirements to all critical upstream and downstream stakeholders (including Auditors, regulators, senior management)
Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the maintenance and execution of the monthly and quarterly Retail ECL production process controls including validation of data and input parameters, production lookup table controls and output validation.
  • Assist in root-cause analysis for production issues including any recommendations to optimize production code or processes used in the retail provision process.
  • Perform the review and support of all new and existing business requirements for retail loan loss provisions process including supporting the approval and change management processes required for all IFRS9 Models in production.
  • Assist in all technical code management and implementation using GitHub into the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) production environment.
  • Manage and maintain all non-production data including data on new acquisition, alternate scenarios under Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Execute and maintain and manage all external ACL measurement processes with appropriate controls and documentation that are in compliance with regulations including the Bank’s End User Control (EUC) directive and SOx controls
  • Work with technology EDL operations team to support any issues during production cycle as needed. Communicate any impacts on data delivery to Global Retail Provisions teams.
  • Function within a highly corroborative team environment and provide necessary backfill and cross-functional support.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in credit risk modeling or operational reporting for either retail or wholesale products
  • Working knowledge of regulations and current regulatory issues related to stress testing, capital requirements and risk management. (e.g., CCAR, Basel)
  • Excellent programming and coding skills. Ability to synthesize modeling and measurement requirements and translate into modular or object oriented codes and sub routines (Python or R)
  • Strong data organization and adept at manipulating large amounts of data (Advanced MS Excel/Access, SQL, VBA)
  • Quantitative modeling skills will be an asset (e.g., machine learning or advanced statistical models, econometric models)
  • Strong Communication skills (written & verbal), Spanish would be an asset.
