Job Summary
As a part of Calgary Economic Development\xe2\x80\x99s Client Excellence team, the Real Estate Manager will be responsible for leading the real estate portfolio with a high level of client service delivery to companies throughout the full spectrum of the sales cycle. The Manager, Real Estate will work to build strong relationships with our clients, our Team Calgary partners and the real estate industry. The Manager, Real Estate will maintain client information in CED\xe2\x80\x99s Client Relationship Management (CRM) system; collaborate with the Director Client Excellence, the Business Development team and key stakeholders to support key accounts
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the discussions with key stakeholders to curate new real estate opportunities that accelerate downtown revitalization. Curate a strategy with internal CED/OCIF teams to position Calgary as a key real estate market for innovation companies and organizations.
  • Connect with companies looking to secure real estate, understand their requirements and provide market information to assist in their decision-making process.
  • Articulate our client needs to a real estate Team Calgary partner, facilitate introductions, monitor the options package for accuracy
  • Assist in the planning and execution of client and site selector tours and visits.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as: file management to ensure proper organization and maintenance of account information; participation in Real Estate Sector Advisory Committee, completion of tracking documents. Keep current on industry developments and technology
  • Build industry-based relationships and networks (brokers, landlords, developers, consultants, lenders etc) that will facilitate the connection between external clients and the local real estate business community, and consistently promote the value and benefits of working with CED
  • Foster strong relationships with key City of Calgary staff in planning/ approvals group, Business and Local Economy group, Real Estate & Development Services (REDS) to quickly action potential industrial investment/development

Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, economics, or related
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in either commercial real estate or commercial lending Minimum 2 years managerial experience (managing sales, account leadership)
Certifications/Professional Designations: Real estate credentialling, urban planning or site selection affiliations. Membership in any commercial Real Estate Association (NAIOP, ULI, BILD, MLAA, etc.) is considered an asset
Key Competencies:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local real estate market including, availability of land, pricing, office, industrial and retail markets.
  • Interpersonal skills / strong verbal communications skills and ability to negotiate
  • Experience with CMS and CRM platforms
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and effectiveness in working through conditions precedent to closing a sale or lease transaction.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to multi-task several projects at once.
  • Decision making capability to source and select appropriate projects for Calgary Economic Development and deliver timely results in a responsible and accountable manner.
  • Exceptional business relationship management skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Effective at working independently and as a member of a team with an ability to collaborate and build consensus across the business
  • Commercial Real Estate & Land Use experience and knowledge
  • Experience working with politically sensitive and confidential information
  • Understanding of Foreign Direct Investment
