JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Enterprise Project Organization (EPO) team in the role of Manager Projects, Project Assurance based out of our Darlington Energy Center in Courtice, ON.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects - Performance Excellence, the Manager Projects will be responsible for leading, developing and supporting the Communication and Strategic Initiative programs to support OPG\'s fleets of Mega and Capital projects in support of OPG\'s long-term Project growth strategy.

This role is accountable for leading stakeholder relations within the EPO to ensure compliance with Managed systems for Mega Projects. The role includes ensuring that internal and external audits and relations are managed to the highest standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervise professional and technical staff, unionized employees, construction trades and contractors, as assigned to manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships between Stakeholder Relations, internal fleet WANO/External Interface departments, and external groups to facilitate effective communication, issue identification and achievement of mutual needs.
  • Provide oversight on the management of the Small Modular Reactor and Refurbishment Managed Systems.
  • Prepare and maintain Project Assurance schedules and multi-year strategic plans for external stakeholder visits
  • Manage External Independent Oversight Boards that report to the OPG Board of Directors or Management.
  • Prepare reports to provide information and data in response to external requests, or for historical purposes. Initiate studies or investigations where opportunities for improvement are apparent.
  • Participate in training programs to further own development and the development of staff and others in terms of systems and equipment knowledge, including Department procedures.
  • Acts as a point of contact for external organizations as it relates to Stakeholder activities and initiates, co-ordinates and supports related internal activities (e.g., Peer evaluations, site assist visits) and external activities.
  • Co-ordinate the preparation, review and approval, from the Senior Vice-President/CPO, for Terms of Reference documents and duties as required
  • Write, co-ordinate, produce submissions as requested to the OPG Board of Directors
  • Write, co-ordinate, issue Program Management Plans in line with the OPG Managed System to support work program activities.
  • Assist in development of Stakeholder Relations programs.
  • Act as the single-point-of-contact to process Freedom of Information requests received, co-ordinating information gathering and approval to release documentation by appropriate business owner, within established timelines.
  • Act as single-point-of-contact, as requested, for external nuclear industry peer benchmarking requests. Arrange logistics including security clearance, radiation badge, meetings, observations, and interviews requested by the visiting industry peers.
  • Participating in the contract management process for the funding and management of the Independent Oversight boards
  • Periodically conduct internal self-assessments to identify good practices and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain a focus on continuous improvement of the business, including knowledge of technological developments, practices and related experience that add value to the business.
  • Manage Collaboration contracts with other utilities and operators
  • Participate in training programs to further own development and the development of staff
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Department\'s annual budget.

EDUCATION
  • 4-year University Degree
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience with facilitative leadership skills.
  • Experience with working with multiple internal and external stakeholders and gaining alignment on strategic implementation
  • Experience with development and maintenance of Managed Systems
  • Prior experience in managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
  • Sound knowledge and familiarity with equipment and processes in electrical generating stations or similar heavy industries.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability to provide guidance.
  • Prior experience applying commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.
  • Proven ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills
  • Must process a valid G driver\'s license in good standing.
