As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical and sensor systems for global defense and military sectors, Homeland Security, Search and Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.
About the Role
This is a key role in the Operations Engineering (OE) organization. The Operations Engineering Manager will be responsible for the OE organization at the L3Harris Don Mills facility. The OE teams reporting to the successful candidate will include those supporting Optics Manufacturing and coating, Opto-mechanical Assembly, Optics Sub-System Verification and New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Leads. This Manager will build deep relationships with multiple disciplines and departments across the organization.
Responsibilities
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Manage daily activities of the Don Mills Operations Engineering team; establish performance standards; formulate staff development plans; coach and inspire staff; provide guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegate work assignments considering employee skills and development needs
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Lead the teams involvement with New Product Development activities
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Coordinate the manufacturing launch for new (NPI) or revised products
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Identify, justify and deliver significant manufacturing continuous improvement and cost reductions
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Ensure manufacturing process optimization, capacity utilization, and waste reduction
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Develop novel and innovative technical solutions to solve manufacturing challenges
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Provide leadership for lean strategies and activities
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Provide project management leadership through direct reports and others
\xc3\x82\xc2\xb7Drive the investments on new initiatives and other changes necessary to improve production efficiency, quality and operational safety
