IATSE Local 891 consists of over 9,000 professional artists and technicians who work in film and television production in BC. We support all genres of production at all budget levels and have made some of the biggest feature films and some of the longest-running and most successful television series ever screened.
We are seeking a Full-Time Manager of Human Resources to join our team with opportunities for advancement. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, onsite.
Primary Function:
The successful candidate will report directly to the President and be primarily responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of Human Resources infrastructure to ensure the effective delivery of IATSE 891 HR services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with senior leadership to develop HR policies and strategies
Manage the talent acquisition process: job postings, interviewing and hiring process including the preparation and scheduling of interviews, and profile creation by working closely with senior leadership
Supports the management of the overall training program for excluded and unionized employees of IATSE 891
Serves as the workplace bullying and harassment complaint officer
Provide support and consultation regarding legal items
Ensure compliance with respective jurisdictions, legislative requirements
Tracking, monitoring, and support of key HR systems: onboarding, training, performance reviews, vacations, health and safety, etc. This includes providing performance management coaching to managers, leadership, and elected officials/officers
Manage any work-related claims including WorkSafeBC
Oversees disability management and work place accommodations for IATSE 891 employees
Co-Chair of the JOSH committee
Collaborates with occupational health and safety personnel to support employee wellness and workplace safety programs
Supports collective bargaining and negotiations
Will be the Privacy Officer and advises on CASL
Other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications
:
University degree or diploma in HR
Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) would be an asset
Knowledge of Canadian and Provincial employment/labour laws, including Human Rights code
Minimum of 5 years in previous progressive experience in HR
Proficient and detailed understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in confidential and/or sensitive matters
Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
Experience with interpreting collective agreements, union bargaining and negotiation
Previous experience overseeing HR in a unionized environment
