POSITION: Manager of Communications
LOCATION: Barrie, ON
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Communications Manager at Catulpa Community Support Services is a strategic leadership-role, responsible for overseeing and executing the agency's communications and marketing efforts. This individual will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and staff across the organization to ensure alignment with the agency's overall goals and mission.
This role will strengthen relationships with the media, staff, persons served, and community partners.
Previous experience in the public/non-profit sector is advantageous.
STATEMENT OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications and marketing:
• Oversee the ongoing evaluation of the agency's Communications Strategy, ensuring that it is effectively executed, continuously improved, and aligned with the agency's goals
• Lead the development of both internal and external branding strategies, providing guidance and training to staff and the Board on how to communicate the Catulpa brand consistently
• Enhance the organization's public image through content management systems, ensuring up-to-date and impactful messaging
• Generate creative content ideas for articles, media releases, and events to keep the community engaged
• Advise on the development of promotional materials such as newsletters, annual reports, staff and donor newsletters, advertisements, articles, and brochures in accordance with the Communications Strategy
• Work with Managers and staff across the organization to ensure consistency and quality in Catulpa literature and marketing materials
• Prepare and submit written reports on organizational activities, achievements, and key events
• Ensure all communications comply with French Language Services and Ministry requirements
Public Relations:
• Assist in planning and executing public relations efforts to promote the organization's initiatives as required
• Take the lead in managing media strategies in situations where unfavourable publicity could affect the agency's reputation
• Build and maintain positive relationships with the media to promote Catulpa's brand and activities
• Manage and coordinate events and activities, including the Annual General Meeting, designed to enhance the public presence of Catulpa
• Develop public education strategies, coordinating, attending, and speaking at public awareness events
• Oversee the development and implementation of targeted advocacy packages to support the agency in amplifying its advocacy efforts and advancing its mission
• Represent Catulpa on internal and external committees, as required
Social Media Strategy & Content Development :
• Develop, implement and continuously evaluate comprehensive social media strategies to enhance the agency's online presence and engagement, as well as that of the Simcoe County Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) hosted by Catulpa Community Support Services
• Create engaging and informative content tailored to each social media platform, ensuring consistency with the brand's voice and message
• Manage and grow the agency's social media channels and that of the Simcoe County CAPC, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, to increase visibility and engagement with the community
• Monitor, analyze, and report on social media metrics, using insights to continually refine and improve content strategy
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop multimedia content (graphics, videos, stories, etc.) that supports campaigns and initiatives, engaging the community through creative storytelling
• Stay up-to-date on the latest social media trends and best practices to ensure Catulpa's social presence is innovative and effective

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• A degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related experience
• A minimum of five years of experience working in the communications, journalism and/or marketing field
• Extensive experience within developmental services and Provincial Ministry-governed organizations, demonstrating a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, funding frameworks and the unique needs of individuals served in these sectors. Adobe Suite, graphic design, graphic design software, social medica platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
• Experience with project management and implementation planning
• Good working knowledge of event management planning
Knowledge and Skill Level
• Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in leadership-level strategic communication planning, implementation and evaluation, preferably within a community organization
• Proven ability to build relationships with leadership teams, staff, community leaders and partners
• Ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and work flexible hours
• To be competent and sensitive to cultural differences in the organization and within the community
• A working understanding of the French Language is beneficial
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle and sufficient insurance.
Salary Rate Range: $68,299- $76,973 annual.
