Position Purpose

The Manager, Marketing Operations is a pivotal role acting as the right-hand person for the VP Sales \xe2\x80\x93 Canada and overseeing 1 direct report. This person plays a key role as an owner of cross functional execution & project management within our Canadian team across wine & spirits. Along with their direct report they will collaborate on the development & oversee the execution of all Canadian marketing & sales initiatives across wine & spirits. They will be responsible for working with both internal & external stakeholders to ensure oversight & smooth execution of our Canadian commercial strategies and tactics. This will include working alongside our external distributors and internal cross functional teams to deliver against key brand & sales priorities. This will include but not be limited to supporting annual planning, managing our marketing spends, supporting NPD launch requirements, reviewing marketing ROI to recommend adjustments, coordinating marketing tools and sharing of digital assets as needed, supporting pricing reviews and conducting ad hoc project management.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Brand Planning & Executions

  • Collaborate in the development of annual marketing plans by brand & province to ensure alignment between global brand plans & local execution plans
  • Liaise between international marketing team, external distributors & external vendors when needed to source/share assets and coordinate & execute Canada specific marketing tools as needed
  • Assist in the development and management of shopper activations, including liaison with International Marketing, external distributor team and agencies as directed
  • Support in the planning and execution of events as needed alongside internal & external stakeholders
Performance Measures:
  • Robust critical paths and tracking of budgets
  • Projects are delivered on time, in full and on budget
  • High quality customer presentations
  • Canada specific, high quality marketing tools are provided to distributors and vendors as required
  • ROI Measured and learnings applied to future activity
Pricing
  • Assist in the development of the annual pricing plan by brand, including reviewing external benchmarks, understand internal pricing guidelines & gain internal sign off from VP Sales \xe2\x80\x93 Canada for all pricing plans
  • Manage pricing submission process, coordination between external distributor submission, internal finance review & VP Sales sign off
  • Ensure monthly accuracy of internal pricing files vs external sources
  • Coordinate a quarterly pricing review by brand to ensure we are aligned to internal targets, competitive benchmarks & long term brand goals
Performance Measures:
  • Pricing plan process managed effectively
  • High quality support provided to annual pricing plan process
  • Accurate pricing files
Budget Management
  • Oversee Canada marketing budget to ensure annual plan is developed & monitored quarterly to ensure delivery on budget
  • Develop adjustment proposals throughout the year to maximize spend efficiency & sales output
  • Be accountable for all personal expenditures & ensure spend is inline with the set budgets
Performance Measures:
  • Accurate & routine tracking of marketing spends
  • Quarterly spend is within budget
  • High quality adjustment proposals
  • Monthly submission of all personal expenses on time and in full
Analysis & Insights
  • Conduct high level analysis on our brand goals vs actuals and turn analysis into action plans.
  • When deeper analysis is needed, know what questions to ask to gain actionable insight.
  • Turn insight into measurable action/tactics to ensure constant measurement and improvement are possible
Performance Measures:
  • Monthly reviews of forecast vs actuals, with clear drivers and reasons for gaps or overdelivery Actions/tactics provided are measurable and deliver desired outcomes
Tools / Trackers / Process Improvements
  • Continuous improvement of tools, processes & trackers to give the team and overall business clear visibility on projects, innovations, activations & other key initiatives
Performance Measures:
  • Optimized pricing request process & tracker implemented and maintained
  • Other key trackers updated annually and continually improved to ensure they are fit for purpose
Demonstrate strong understanding of market & competitor dynamics

Performance Measures:
  • Minimum 1 day per qtr. In trade
  • Report on findings & proposed actions developed for each visit
Hospitality
  • Coordinate hospitality requests between our external distributors/customer and our internal hospitality teams across all properties
Performance Measures:
  • Hospitality visits completed flawlessly
  • Positive feedback from customers/ distributors/internal teams
Leadership and Coaching:
  • Support in determining workload balance & allocation of tasks within team
  • Conduct routine Personal Development meetings with 1x direct report to ensure ongoing learning & development for their team
  • Support in the development & KPI setting for their direct report inline with the overall Canada strategy & targets
Performance Measures:
  • Workload is balanced between self and direct report
  • Development of team member demonstrated and measurable
  • Goals are set and measured quarterly
  • Goals include stretch targets and development opportunities
Health and Safety
  • Ensure all health, safety and quality principles are incorporated into daily activities and policies and procedures are complied with consistently.
Performance Measures:
  • A culture of safety, health and a quality focus is demonstrated in daily activities
  • Any incidents are investigated and reported in accord with policies
  • Findings and improvement actions are managed appropriately and in a timely manner.
Any other reasonable duties as required and instructed by the organization

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • Bachelors degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in either a Sales or Marketing capacity at a CPG organization or other fast paced consumer centric organization.
  • Proven experience in cross functional project management & execution
  • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to guide projects from conception to fruition within established timelines and budget is essential.
  • Superior attention to detail & accuracy
Preferred
  • Previous experience working in the spirits/wine/beer market in Canada
  • Knowledge of wine or spirits and an interest to further expand their knowledge
  • Proven problem solver with a track record and ability to balance speed, accuracy & impact
