MANUFACTURING MANAGER - CANADA
8 Month Term Position
Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Manager, Manufacturing for our Manufacturing Department at our Winnipeg location. The successful candidate will possess a university degree within the sciences, engineering or operations at a recognized university, and have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field. Preference will be given to personnel with manufacturing experience. Must have the demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and production issues. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manager, Manufacturing oversees and coordinates Emergent Winnipeg's manufacturing unit, through subordinates, to manufacture products consistent with regulatory, sales and profitability requirements. The incumbent must be results-driven, with an innate ability to motivate teams to be effective.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager, Manufacturing is accountable for results of the unit staff. Responsibilities include:
Manufacture of products according to the appropriate documentation & production schedule.
Approval of instructions relating to production operations and to ensure their strict implementation.
Direct the work activities of unit staff.
Assist & oversee validation activities in Manufacturing.
Ensure compliance with the requirements of Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Oversee training of unit personnel and adapt the training according to need.
Assist with budget preparation and adhere to administration controls for assigned resources.
Approve and implement plans & procedures so that work areas meet all company policies and standards.
Makes every effort to complete annual goals that are agreed to with reporting leader.
Ensure that production records are evaluated and signed by an authorized person.
Support the maintenance & calibration of production premises and equipment within the stated timelines.
Responsible for supervision of all area personnel.
Reporting and documenting deviations in the manufacturing unit.
Oversee lot release activities such as Batch Record review to support customer service metrics.
Ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed.
Ensure that corporate policies and procedures are followed.
Set clear objectives & monitor results regularly.
Participate in department operations as required.
Approve all purchasing up to the designated dollar value allowed for managers.
Coordinate all related activities with other departments.
Participate in departmental strategic planning.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Attainment of a university degree, either in the sciences, engineering or operations, at a recognized university.
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in related field in combination with related supervisory and technical training/experience.
Preference will be given to personnel with manufacturing experience.
Accuracy, good communication skills, ability to learn new concepts, ability to follow written procedures and oral instructions.
Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and production issues.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
