SENIOR MANAGER, MANUFACTURING & ENGINEERING

LOCATION:
Nisku, AB WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office & Manufacturing Plant TYPE: Full-Time
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of plant operations and support functions on-site. This includes the direct management and oversight of the following departments: safety, production, procurement, quality, warranty, and manufacturing engineering. The role is also responsible to guide manufacturing policies and programs ensuring operations maintains the company?s profitable and competitive position across our markets.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • University degree in engineering/business/commerce or equivalent experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification or equivalent/related certification preferred
  • MBA or other master?s degree an asset
Experience:
  • 8+ years? experience successfully leading a manufacturing organization including cost management, production planning, inventory control, quality, and continuous improvement
  • 5+ years leading a high-performance manufacturing/engineering team
  • Significant manufacturing industry background, preferably in heavy equipment fabrication
  • Demonstrated track record leading the improvement of operations while delivering day to day performance
  • Experience/understanding of Lean manufacturing & Continuous Improvement processes
  • Experience in developing, reporting and analyzing financial measurement of plant performance

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Align priorities and activities to support the business strategic plans and objectives
  • Develop and execute on the annual operating plans, track and monitor performance and update forecasts and contingency plans as needed
  • Develop methods, policies, and procedures to ensure manufacturing objectives are attained
  • Responsible for capacity planning, capital budget planning and capital investment initiatives
  • Responsible for development of cost control reports, costing estimates and labour and facilities requirements forecasts
  • Lead and execute on operational projects to reduce COGS and consistently expand margin year over year
  • Oversee multifunctional areas such as Purchasing/Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Warranty, Engineering, Production and Warehouse operations
  • Work with all areas to maximize overall effectiveness and efficiency on multifunctional initiatives
  • Create, maintain, and implement the master build schedule that meets the delivery targets
  • Responsible to achieve continuous improvement in areas of product design, cost, warranty reduction, inventory management, productivity, plant and product safety
  • Plan, implement and measure continuous process and quality improvement initiatives
  • Proactively work to maintain safe and healthy working conditions, to adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injury and illness and to observe all governmental, regional and company safety and health regulations
  • Champion effective communication lines by holding regular meetings with teams in areas of lean/continuous improvement initiatives, safety, quality, warranty, corporate communications, etc.
  • Direct the product engineering activities to ensure the products meet or exceed customer expectations concerning performance, durability and cost
  • Working with Product Management, direct new product development programs to ensure program deliverables are achieved including target costs, performance and timelines
  • Maintain a constant awareness of company profitability, including budgetary control constraints
  • Chair weekly planning and monitoring sessions between production and other functional departments to ensure weekly targets are met
  • Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support in the company?s values and policies
  • Support managers and teams in attainment of objectives contained in the operating plan
  • Promote and enhance a positive team environment, including efforts to establish and maintain high levels of employee involvement and communication.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.

Travel Expectations:
  • 15%-20% Travel
  • Valid Passport required for travel to the US
