Position Title: Manager, Major Giving

Vice President, Philanthropic Partnerships



I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities




The Manager, Major Giving is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of major donors in Ontario, with a primary focus on securing new philanthropic support of CNIB's mission. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Major Giving, this frontline fundraising role proactively builds relationships with individual and foundation prospects to secure 5- and 6-figure gifts. The Manager contributes directly to CNIB's revenue growth goals and serves as an ambassador for CNIB's philanthropic partnerships.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following key responsibilities:



Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, focusing on cultivating and closing major gifts (over $5,000). Develop tailored donor engagement strategies in line with CNIB's philanthropic priorities. Conduct donor meetings, cultivation visits, and solicitation calls to secure major contributions. Collaborate with program staff to ensure donor-funded initiatives are successfully implemented and reported. Deliver donor-centered stewardship that emphasizes impact and accountability. Draft proposals, gift agreements, reports, and stewardship communications. Ensure donor activity is accurately recorded in the national moves management system.

Relationship



Partner with colleagues in planned giving, corporate partnerships, and marketing to advance donor relationships. Support event-related donor and sponsor engagement, ensuring a seamless donor experience. Work with the prospect research team to build a strong pipeline of major gift prospects.

III. Qualifications



Minimum 3 years of fundraising experience, with a proven ability to secure 5-figure gifts. Post-secondary degree or diploma in fundraising, business, or a related field. Excellent writing, research, and presentation skills. Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and moves management processes. Strategic thinker with strong foresight, problem-solving skills, and the ability to spot and seize opportunities. Comfortable networking and attending events. Exceptional relationship-builder with clear, persuasive communication skills and the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.

Work Environment



This role is hybrid office/remote This incumbent works with confidential material. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of department and position requirements. Multiple and ongoing demands from key stakeholders. Occasional travel may be required to meet with stakeholders, attend conferences, or manage external partnerships.
