POSITION: Manager, Human Resources
DIVISION: Aquilini Group
REPORTS TO: The Executives of Aquilini Group Holdings and Aquilini Properties
PORTFOLIO: Aquilini Investment Group, Aquilini Properties, Aquilini Development & Construction, Aquilini Beverage Group, Aquilini Vineyards, Golden Eagle Farms, and Golden Eagle Sable Fish.

Aquilini Group (“AG”) is a diversified family business founded in Vancouver, BC more than 50 years ago with roots in the real estate development and construction industry. Today the company owns and manages an international real estate portfolio that includes commercial and residential properties, hotels, golf courses, vineyards and blueberry and cranberry farms. In addition to these ongoing pursuits, AG has expanded its holdings to include assets in the sports & entertainment, renewable energy, aquaculture, tourist attractions, restaurants and food & beverage industries.
SUMMARY:

The Manager, Human Resources will be a key player in the development and implementation of strategic HR initiatives, as well as offer a wide range of services to support both management and staff of Aquilini Group. The incumbent will work in collaboration with various division executives to attract, develop, engage, retain, and support a satisfied workforce that strives for continual improvement and excellence. The role is based on-site at AG’s head office located at Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver, BC.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides recruitment support to the various AG companies with proactive strategies to recruit high caliber staff
  • Improve and maintain a successful onboarding and offboarding program
  • Provide salary/wage analytics and performance management guidance to business unit leaders
  • Create innovative, centralized and progressive programs or ideas to support overall employee engagement and retention goals
  • Participate in the social and culture committees, which organize company social and charitable events
  • Ensure centralized employee records for all AG employees are maintained, such as the active directory and intranet
  • Ensure all employee relation cases are investigated and resolved
  • Work together with the Corporate Health & Safety Manager on WCB and sick leave claims, both in Canada and the US
  • Proactively work with employees on successful return-to-work scenarios
  • Manage AG’s summer intern program by coordinating the intern needs of AG, and assisting in the recruitment of high caliber candidates
  • Assist with the management of US work visas for US based divisions
  • Provide decision making support through development of manageable metrics
  • Nurture a positive and productive working environment
  • Ability to hire temporary foreign workers, utilizing the LMIA process

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Human Resource Management experience
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, objectivity, confidentiality, good judgment, leadership and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, at all levels
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • In depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • A thoughtful and collaborative problem solver, with a practical and client-centered approach
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills
  • Data analysis and basic numeracy skills
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and benefit administration
