The world needs more Canada. Destination Canada is looking for a Marketing Manager , International to join our international team as we inspire travellers to explore Canada. This role leads the development of marketing plans and tactics to promote Canada as a travel destination in those markets; manages the execution of marketing plans to achieve target KPIs; and reports on performance to key stakeholders and implements adjustments to optimize performance. Our ideal candidate is collaborative, solutions-focused and has strong and effective project management skills. The individual will leverage excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully build alliances with partners. You have a strong marketing background and are able to develop and lead consumer marketing plans and translate them to results. This model requires all employees to work 2-3 days/week in the Vancouver office. The remainder of the work week can be spent working from a home office. DUTIES: Working with their manager, this role contributes to the development of annual strategic marketing plans. The individual will develop yearly tactical plans that will fulfill the strategy and objectives for their respective market(s), working in collaboration with teams across eight international markets, The role also works with research, data & analytics teams to ensure market research data is integrated into and informs the marketing tactics and KPIs. The successful candidate will project manage the execution of tactical plans, ensuring activities and campaigns are delivered on budget, within established timeframes, and obtain target KPIs. The marketing plans developed and implemented are cross-channel, integrated consumer marketing plans that include multiple types of media - paid, earned (media relations & PR), and owned (website and social). The successful candidate must ensure these various components are integrated, including ensuring content, editorial, creative, and media plans support the market plan and objectives. Essential Qualifications EDUCATION: University degree in Marketing or another field directly related to the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience EXPERIENCE: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing/communications
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic marketing plans
  • Experience managing integrated cross-channel marketing campaigns
  • Experience in the Canadian tourism industry is an asset
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communications principles and practices
  • Knowledge of diverse marketing channels, including paid media, content marketing, media/public relations
  • Knowledge of agency models for marketing, branding, strategy, design and media buying
  • Knowledge of the latest marketing tactics and technology
  • Knowledge of the Canadian tourism industry is an asset
