Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Global HR Risk and Controls Management operational risk team to ensure specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Kay Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Supports Global HR governance activities related to development/implementation of governance programs and frameworks, policies and procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assists and executes risk governance for Global HR, including Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy, Third Party Risk Management, Global Issues Management and other programs that may apply.
  • Operational Risk:
  • Support Global HR management of non-financial risks including: Scenario analysis, Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program, Key Risk Indicators, Operational Risk Event (Loss) reporting, New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA), Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) and applicable analytics and reporting.
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Experience / Education:
  • Working knowledge of effective governance and strategy management
  • Strong Excel and analytic abilities to support trend analysis and reporting
  • Ability to think strategically and cultivate networks and relationships
  • Ability to align business imperatives and translate strategy into actionable plans and results
  • Strong understanding across all areas in Human Resources, and the regulatory environment, and reporting requirements in Canada.
  • Understanding of key Scotiabank business drivers and context of external environment
  • College Diploma or University Degree with 3-5 or more years relevant experience in Human Resources or Non-Financial Risk Management
  • Able to assess compliance to policies and regulatory issues, exercise sound judgment expeditiously with respect to such issues and defend decisions with management of the businesses.
  • Able to effectively work with and influence at all levels of management
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
