The Strategy Specialist will be responsible for providing planning and strategic internal communication advice and support to our leaders within Security, Risk, and Crisis Management (SRC) and contribute to shaping and driving the strategic evolution of security tools and services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with security and technology teams to build a comprehensive, strategic, and evolving three-year fluid view for SRC. This will outline new security capabilities, services and platforms that are emerging or due for modernization. The candidate will also be responsible for research and competitive intelligence gathering on emerging technology and changes to industry best practices.

What will you do?

The Strategy Consultant\xe2\x80\x99s main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the build and expansion of cyber security narratives and updates through executive-level communications, reporting and presentation material.
  • Coordinate Security Council, Business Unit Risk Committees and other relevant forums (CISO Forum, Cyber Security Working Committee).
  • Assist in the development of global security strategy focused on three-year view of emerging technology while aligning with the security program and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of micro-strategies and business cases for future strategic investments and return on investments (ROI).
  • Collaborate with multiple technology teams within architecture, Engineering, and strategy teams to outline future roadmaps, initiatives, and project outcomes.
  • Support key proof of concepts, product evaluations, and build business case for emerging technologies and capability sets.
What do you need to succeed?
  • University degree/college diploma in Business Administration, Communications, IT or related discipline(s) or equivalent co-op work experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in technology and/or business writing.
  • Excellent MS PowerPoint skills, including an understanding of presentation process (storyboard to finished product and speaker notes).
Individual skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral. Writing skills include an ability to translate technical content into laymen terms consumable by senior executive readers.
  • Pragmatic understanding of storytelling and the ability to craft summaries and narratives relating to accomplishments, business rationale and projects. This includes creative design and utilizing visuals and graphics to aid in the communication of key information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify errors and inaccuracies in reporting and
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations as part of the multiple technology, project teams including security, infrastructure, and application teams.
  • Experience in managing expectations with prioritization and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with delivery and program teams, technical managers, and other business stakeholders.
Considered an asset:
  • Experience with executive/senior management communications, e.g., workshops, reporting to executives, or communications to a broad external audience.
  • Experience in vendor and technology feasibility, planning and compatibility reviews.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
