About The Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular, Full-Time Manager, Fleet Management to join our Supply Chain / Process Management Team. The work of a Manager, Fleet Management is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Lifeline.
As a member of Canadian Blood Services, the Manager, Fleet Management furthers the Mission, Vision, Values, and objectives of Canadian Blood Services in the delivery of products, processes and services that meet or exceed customers\xe2\x80\x99 expectations in accordance with Canadian Blood Services\xe2\x80\x99 Management System and all legislative and regulatory requirements.
The Manager, Fleet Management is responsible for the management of the Canadian Blood Service vehicle fleet, including ancillary equipment, in support of administrative and operational activities, using a life-cycle management methodology.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the acquisition, management and disposition of the CBS Vehicle Fleet and Fleet Management Services in support of Canadian Blood Services administrative and operational activities using a life-cycle management program.
  • Provides input into the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and standards related to transportation regulatory compliance.
  • Provides input into the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and standards related to transportation safety requirements.
  • Provides visibility to transportation issues at the national level to ensure that transportation limitations and characteristics will be factored in all operational decisions.
  • Provides specialist advice as required to Regional Logistics staff on all transportation related issues such as vehicle operations and maintenance, contracted services, preventive & predictive maintenance, compliance issues, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Experience, Training and/or Certification(s):
  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a university degree in Business Administration.
  • At least 6-10 years of transportation related experience including vehicle fleet operations and development and implementation of automated National Transportation Systems such as Automated Fleet Management System.
  • Demonstrated experience in national programs in addition to policies and procedures development and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in Logistics project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting process.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Computer skills and development of Transportation Automated System.
  • Advanced organizational, oral, and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive skills in planning, resource, and financial management.
  • In depth knowledge of the different Driver and Vehicle Safety Programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislations, e.g. Provincial Highway Traffic Acts, Motor Vehicle Acts, Dangerous Goods Act, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of provincial and federal regulations as pertains to biomedical waste.
