Job Description


The Manager, Financial Systems & Processes will lead a small team by overseeing and maintaining the financial system, master data, and processes that support corporate operations. The role will also support the Director with ongoing continuous improvement efforts, working closely with the Finance and Operations teams for the companies. The performance of duties requires a high level of proficiency working with complex financial systems and reports, as well as an ability to think critically, collaborate cross-functionally, and manage multiple priorities.

System Administration and User Support.

Work closely with the System Administrator and System Analyst to oversee all aspects of the financial system, including user support and system access controls.

Primary contact with vendor for service issues, troubleshooting, license renewals and acquisitions, modification requests, etc.

Oversee software update process; evaluate, test, debugging, and implementation.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of system capabilities and configurations across each of the companies, including processes, roles, workflow, data, reporting, and integrations.

Document (for evaluation), a plan for testing, results of testing after approval by Director and Continuous Improvement Committee (CIC), and an implementation plan for all recommended projects for new functionality or CIC projects.

Liaise with IT department where required for infrastructure, connectivity and security matters.

Assist in ensuring business systems are used effectively as a tool to maintain appropriate internal controls over accounting activities and access to systems and records.

Responsible for integration of operational systems and any related projects.

Business Processes: Documentation and Continuous Improvement

Responsible for maintaining business process documentation for construction companies as directed, including both eCMS system procedures as well as other business processes with financial impact

Coordinate process reviews and discussions with various teams for areas of improvement and pain points.

Track areas for consideration by the CIC.

Develop and execute modernized processes and controls within the Finance department through directly collaborating with the CIC and end-users.

Responsible to coordinate, execute and record follow-up matters related to CIC.

Make recommendations on priorities, coordinate updates on ongoing projects/improvements as related to company goals.

Ensure appropriate and effective internal controls are included in processes and documentation; monitor processes and controls to ensure they are operating as designed.

Responsible to direct and oversee creation and changes to all financial reports and data inquiries from the system; ensuring accuracy, change management, and control over access to information.

Responsible to oversee the master data function for the system, with the support of Master Data Coordinators.

Support the Director in creating and enforcing policies for effective data management.

All other tasks as required.

Experience in theses area: Accounting Software Systems, Accounting Systems, Process Improvement, Business Process Functions, Master Data Management, Financial Reporting, Financial Systems.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years progressive work experience in accounting and finance, ideally 3+ years directly supporting a finance system.

CPA designation required.

PMP designation or other certification in Project Management or Business Analysis is considered an asset but not required.

Experience with complex financial systems, including system administration, report building, integrations, and master data management.

Experience with project management as applied to continuous improvement and business transformation efforts is considered an asset.

Effective communication in writing and verbally, in English.

Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and projects to meet business needs.

Enjoy problem-solving and adopting a collaborative approach to find and implement innovative solutions.

Prior experience with the construction industry is considered an asset but not required.

Strong aptitude demonstrated in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).

Experience using Cognos (IBM Cognos Connection), eCMS by Computer Guidance Corporation, or SQL knowledge would be considered an asset.
