Position Summary

The Financial Systems Analyst will support the Manager with the Accounting, Information Technology, and Project Management teams in order to solicit requirements, test, and develop system improvements and updates. They will work closely with our teams on training, support, development and will create and/or maintain user documentation in order to maintain business continuity within the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  • First line for users in resolving issues or questions related to their use of the ERP system, liaising with the vendor support for routine matters and escalating to the Manager where required.
  • Analyze issues that arise and assist users in determining the best course of action for any corrective measures to be taken, involving appropriate finance or other personnel where appropriate.
  • Support the Manager in evaluating software release notes and updates, coordinating, and performing testing, troubleshooting issues with vendor, and assessing readiness for updates to the production environment.
  • Assists the Manager with creating and maintaining internal user documentation as required by software enhancements or updates.
  • Assists the Manager as required for training of users.
  • Maintains some of the system master files for financial-related items including GL accounts, financial statement formats, bank accounts, tax masters, and others not maintained by the master data coordinator.
  • Acts as backup to master data coordinator when required due to illness or vacation.
  • Creates reports using Interactive Data Inquiry or Cognos BI, as directed by the Manager.
  • Assists the Manager as required in evaluation and testing of enhancements and development of new functionality in the ERP system, including integration of other software.
  • Brings forwards recommendations for process improvements, policies and procedures, and system efficiencies.
  • All other duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in finance/accounting is required.
  • Prior experience with complex accounting/ERP system enhancements and/or implementation is required.
  • Moderate understanding of how computers systems, software, and integrations work.
  • 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with financial systems software is required.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls is required.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required. Attention to detail is crucial for this role.
  • Knowledge of Computer Guidance Corporation\xe2\x80\x99s eCMS Construction ERP is considered a strong asset. Experience using Cognos BI would be considered an asset.
