Headquartered in Vancouver, Aqueduct supports donors from across Canada in achieving their philanthropic goals.As the Manager, Finance and Operations, you play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the financial operations, including accounting, reporting, procurement and human resources functions. This role works closely with the Aqueduct team and the Scotia teams to support the foundation's operational plans, fostering a growth mindset to effectively address challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Manage the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring transactions such as donations, grants, dividends, scholarship payments, voucher payments, investments and payroll are processed accurately, efficiently, and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
• Oversee reconciliations to identify and correct discrepancies, maintaining the integrity of financial records. Conduct regular reviews to verify compliance with financial and operational procedures. Follow up to confirm timely resolution of any issues identified.
• Maintain and update IT solutions to optimize financial workflows, enhance performance, security and compliance with regulations. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to financial transactions promptly.
• Support preparation of internal financials and board reporting packages, review transaction journals, post and maintain monthly accruals for material balances. Implement a reporting process to fulfill expanded reporting requirements, assess the current financial reporting infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements.
• Support annual external audit process by preparing working papers and addressing audit queries, so that the audit can be completed efficiently and in compliance with regulator requirements.
• Support annual filings and CRA information returns for charities, so that the foundation maintains its charitable status, and ensure transparency and accountability to donors and stakeholders.
• Support annual planning and budgeting process. Develop visual aids, including graphs and flowcharts, to track progress, identify trends and patterns, improve communication and facilitate decision-making.
• Assist in the management of complex assets, such as private company shares, real estate and art collections.
• Assist with year-end calibration of performance results. Support the calculation of year-end bonuses and facilitate their recording and payment.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancement within the foundation, with Scotia and external stakeholders. Participation in special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

• CPA designation (or equivalent), which is required for the role.
• Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management, and within a not-for-profit organization will be an asset. Experience in fund accounting will be an asset. Experience in financial services environment will be an asset.
• Strong accounting and finance leader with sound technical accounting and reporting skills.
• Strong operational orientation with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including the foundation team and the Scotia teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to leverage technology for financial analysis and reporting.
• Demonstration of a strong commitment to the not-for-profit sector.
