We are currently seeking to add an Manager, Environmental Consulting to our team Job Type: Full Time The Manager, Environmental Consulting is responsible to manages key client environmental projects, including spill response, site assessment and remediation. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and scope. Oversight of all aspects of projects, deadlines, responsibility assignment and project progress. The Manager, Environmental Consulting also manages operations at soil treatment facilities operated by KBL, including soil/snow/water acceptance, treatment campaigns, confirmatory sampling, compliance monitoring, annual reporting and budget tracking. The Manager of Environmental Consulting is responsible for the oversight of Project Managers, including monitoring objective and target achievements along with providing technical and regulatory guidance. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing business unit financials: Reviewing and approving third party invoices and generating invoices to client
Assisting the General Manager with developing cost estimates that are accurate and include all aspects for the completion of the project objectives - Large Projects ( >$200k)
Developing and completing cost estimates, budgets and work plans that are accurate and include all aspects for the completion of the project objectives - Medium Projects ( >$50k, < 200k)
Attending potential bidders\xe2\x80\x99 meetings or conference calls to obtain important information regarding the project
Obtaining third party quotes for services required for project completion
Submitting pricing and acceptance criteria information for STF\'s
Monitoring staff utility rates (billable vs. non-billable)
  • Managing existing environmental projects by: Communicating with clients to ensure they understand the full capabilities of each individual facility; submitting pricing and acceptance criteria information
Scheduling logistics, personnel and subcontractors and supervision of work crews
Reporting of all technical aspects of project work completed, in a manner which meets client and regulatory requirements
Tracking project status, performance and completion to ensure project outcomes are successful both technically and budgetary
Ensuring client goals and project objectives are well defined
Interaction with other divisions of the company as required to obtain information required to be submitted in the bid
Reviewing jurisdictional guidelines and protocols to ensure proper sample collection methods and data comparisons
  • Soil Treatment Facilities: Operating the facility within the limits set forth by the facility approval documents (water license, operations and maintenance plan etc.
  • People Oversight: Leading meetings with Project Managers to discuss project needs, challenges, successes
Mentors and trains direct reports
Leading meetings with Field Staff to discuss project needs, challenges, successes
  • Compliance, Health and Safety Support: Lead by example and promote a culture of safety and environmental protection in the workplace. Ensure adherence to KBL\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Management System by having a good knowledge of safe work standards, policies and procedures relevant to the facility and the work performed by facility personnel;
Timely provision of HSE related documents to HSE Coordinator or Administrative personnel; and
Ongoing equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Qualifications:
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Environmental Sciences (or similar);
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Project Management;
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Environmental Consulting;
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience leading and developing teams;
  • Knowledge of budgets, department financials, and reporting;
  • Specialized knowledge in the areas of environmental site assessment and remediation, including sampling of soil, water and air, interpretation of results and reporting;
  • Adept at working with little supervision, problem solving and adapting to change;
  • Able to find ways to obtain project objectives and deliverables, while maintaining time and budget constraints;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral; ability to interact with various types of stakeholders, regulators and first nations;
  • Professional certifications such as P.Ag, RT.Ag, CET, PMP, EP an asset;
Physical Requirements: At times, it may be required to endure standing for long periods of time, lifting objects up to 100 lbs, performing repetitive motions, or completing physically demanding tasks during project field work. Working Environment: There is a possibility of cuts, bruises, straining, disease and /or severe injury if safe work practices are not being followed. Work is primarily carried out indoors, but project work in the field will be required.
