The Role

As a senior leader of the technical services management team, reporting to the director of the technical services delivery group, you will provide overall management of the engineering services that technical services provides for our capital programs and ongoing operations support needs. Cameco\'s internal engineering team is a diverse multidiscipline team of 50-80 people, supporting a growing capital program
$200M. This role also oversees and manages relationships and expectations with external firms Cameco engages with to provide external engineering services and resources.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for day to day administration, management, and oversight of the multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Responsible for the engineering department budget, short term and long term staffing, growth and retention of our talented engineering resources
  • Work with operations management, technical services program managers, and technical service senior leadership group to develop and monitor execution strategies and plans to achieve the engineering work required.
  • Be the owner of the engineering procedures, standards, processes and specification used by the technical teams to provide high quality, technically sound, and cost appropriate technical solutions.
  • Coordinate technical activities and resources across multiple groups, multiple programs, and multiple operations
  • Build, manage, and oversee relationships with external engineering firms who are engaged to provide technical resources and technical work to support Cameco\'s capital program and operations needs.
  • Ensure all engineering work is done on schedule, meeting all deliverables, while working within agreed to budget targets.
  • Ensure that the design work is done in accordance with Cameco\'s processes, procedures, standards and regulatory requirements and to an appropriate level of quality.
  • Advocate and foster continual improvement of engineering processes, design tools, and skillsets.
Required:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
  • Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
