About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) who will focus on developing, implementing and evaluating the Agency's equity, diversity, and inclusion and talent development strategies. As member of the management team, you will provide leadership, strategic direction, guidance and expertise in equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI), human rights, anti-racism, anti-oppression, anti-semitism, and accessibility. Working towards strengthening the work culture, support organizational achievement and staff well-being. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources with secondary accountability to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and expertise in design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a comprehensive EDI and anti-oppression strategy that supports the Agency's missions, vision and values.
  • Fosters understanding and mutual acceptance of diversity among all key stakeholder groups such as staff, board, volunteers, students, alternative caregivers and services users.
  • Ensures change initiatives for integrating equity and anti-oppressive practices follow the agency's anti-oppressive goals/objectives.
  • Leads the Agency equity committee; acts as a resource to internal and external committees and groups.
  • Oversees the development of the strategy and design of the Agency's organization- wide approach to EDI in support of the Agency's mission, vision, and values
  • Implements an equity-focused work plan that aligns with the Agency's strategic vision, goals, and objectives
  • Develops and delivers content for various interventions and training as needed
  • Liaises with service partners, funders, Ministry committees, and other program related activities
  • Works collaboratively with all levels of the organization and the community to create innovative changes that support better outcomes for children, youth, and families.
  • Works collaboratively with all levels of the organization to create an equity focused, healthy workplace culture that is fair, consistent, and respectful, while supporting the creation of an effective employee and leadership team representative of the diversity in the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Related Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent work experience; equity studies or work experience in addressing inequities in specific contexts will be valued
  • Significant experience in the EDI field with increasing scope and responsibilities for developing and leading diversity strategies.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and mediation
  • Demonstrated progressive experience developing, implementing and evaluating strategies, initiatives that address disproportionality and disparity in a social service setting.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of equity, accessibility, intersectionality, anti- racism, decolonization, inclusion, anti-oppression, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and their application in an organizational context.
  • Understanding of how antisemitism is contextualized within the frameworks of diversity, anti-oppression.
  • A satisfactory Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening)
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
