PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Director of Technology Services, this management position is accountable for the overall activities and functions of Device and Telecom Services (DTS), including procurement and maintenance of staff communication badges, mobile phones, computers, and various peripherals to support clinical and business requirements. In addition, this role is responsible for developing and maintaining an asset life cycle management strategy to support the refresh and replacement of over 10,000 assets currently on lease. They are responsible for adhering to industry best practices and KHSC standards to help enable delivery of front-line clinical care, while working closely with care givers and physicians, ancillary and support service departments, and regional healthcare partners.


The role includes leading a team of approximately seven Information Management (IM) professionals and providing recommendations to the Director of Technology Services. In addition, they provide advice, guidance, and support to hospital leaders, staff and partners on device and telecom services


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations:


  • Provides supervision and guidance to the DTS Team

  • Contributes in the development / monitoring of the DTS Operating Budget and annual work plan

  • Determines appropriate team structure and staffing / competency mix

  • Identifies and monitors the DTS systems and team performance metrics

  • Participates in the negotiations and administration of vendor service level agreements and/or contracts

  • Develops and maintains an asset management strategy, specifically related to a leased asset life cycle


Relationships:

  • Builds lasting relationships with senior leaders, clinical and business program and department leaders and stakeholders, project managers, CIO Portfolio peers, team members, industry vendors and consultants, and regional and provincial partners


Staffing:

  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff and other IM team members on educational and career opportunities

  • Completes staff performance agreements

  • Recruits, coaches and mentors team members

  • Manages staffing, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions in accordance with hospital HR policies and union collective agreements


Program and Project Execution:

  • Reviews and provides input to program/project scopes, approaches, solution designs, work plans and budgets

  • Ensures technology purchases follow IT architecture standards and broader public sector guidelines

  • Mitigates risk

  • Communicates progress to leaders and stakeholders


Strategy and Planning:

  • Collaborates with project teams, departments, organizational and regional partners on strategic and technical planning to ensure compliance with organizational and regional standards

  • Prioritizes demands and maintains focus on departmental priorities while maintaining day-to-day operations

  • Stays up-to-date on technology, industry trends and best practices and provincial and regional healthcare strategies and initiatives

The following are some of the key qualifications we seek for this exciting opportunity:


  • Minimum of 3 years of community college with diploma, or equivalent

  • 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 progressive experience with information technology

  • 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a leadership position within information management

  • Experience in an academic health care environment an asset

  • Technical certification in one or more related fields an asset: Cisco, Microsoft, Cloud-based infrastructure (AWS/Azure), Security

  • Additional non-technical certifications considered an asset: PMP

  • Specialized knowledge of Technical Device Support Services

  • Project management / Change management

  • Familiar with ITIL framework

  • Technical knowledge of the application and systems used at KHSC

  • Strong team leader and mentor

  • Exceptional customer service

  • Interpersonal and communication, both verbal and written

  • In depth understanding of a support infrastructure, including process flows and procedures

  • Effective analytical, problem solving and decision-making

  • Exceptional organizational and time management with ability to prioritize workload

  • Proven ability to research, analyze and interpret information

  • Satisfactory criminal reference check required; proven attendance record; must meet the physical demands of the position.
