The Team
Oversees Finance Regulatory Data Management & Data Services within Global Finance & Risk Technology (GFRT) provides development and production support services for US Regulatory Initiatives and operations. The Regulatory reporting platform management team supports development related to regulatory requirements and application support for the returns filed by the bank. The team is heavily involved in business transformation projects and regression testing during migrations.
The Role
As a Data Engineer (Power BI Developer)you are required to participate and liaise with Data Governance team on existing processes, global regulatory teams, new business initiatives and Global Finance to mine data and provide Power BI reporting solutions. The individual must thrive on challenge, has a penchant for data analytics, be proactive self starter, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn to solution problem.

Some of the key accountabilities include:

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
• Work with data platforms such as OFSAA/OBIEE/Regulatory Reporting platforms
• Data mining, data models and designing reports on Power BI
• Connect Power BI servers with various data centers to leverage the data
• Create KPI dashboards finance, regulatory reporting teams and operations
• Maintain and provide ongoing support as a Power BI developer.
• Effectively facilitate SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development.
• Understand how the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\xe2\x80\x99s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You Will Bring to Succeed

• 1.5+ years of experience with Power BI Development, Hadoop and Cloud
• PL/SQL, Python
• Additional skills that will help are Datastage and Informatica
• University or College degree in data science/computer science (with Finance is a plus)
