About Us


The Adult Education Division of Nova Scotia's Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration is dedicated to improving the education and employment prospects of Nova Scotia's adults by promoting, developing and funding adult literacy, essential skills, and upgrading programs in the province.
The division administers the following programs: Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning, General Educational Development (GED), Recognition of Prior Learning, and Labour Mobility.

About Our Opportunity


The Manager, Curriculum Development leads a team of professionals and is responsible for the overall development, delivery and quality of the Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning (NSSAL) adult learning programs and curriculum, in accordance with the province’s Adult Learning Act (the Act) and the NSSAL Program Model Framework.
The Manager is accountable for the strategic and operational leadership needed to develop adult learning programs and curriculum. As the Manager, Curriculum Development you provide the overall direction, and lead planning, evaluation, and implementation of activities. You develop, design and deliver professional development workshops and adult education related training for practitioners in community-based and institutional adult learning programs. The Manager aligns these activities with the NSSAL program model, departmental mandates, government priorities and the Act, while building mutually beneficial relationships with various internal and external stakeholders in government and in communities across the province.
This position reports to the Director, Adult Education.

Qualifications and Experience


This position requires a master’s degree in education (or an equivalent teacher certification) plus five years of related experience. This includes considerable experience in human resource management, financial management and program development, implementation, and evaluation. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be accepted.
You possess strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills (verbal and written). You must have the ability to lead consultations and establish effective working relations with a broad range of stakeholders. You have demonstrated partner engagement skills and the ability to build healthy collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
You thrive on developing curriculum through an equity and diversity lens. You seek to understand diverse perspectives and concerns and ensure these perspectives are addressed in NSSAL programming and professional development workshops. Constructive thinking, open communication and good business planning are key requirements. You have previous experience in testing and evaluation, project management, facilitation, and recognition of prior learning.
While not required, it is considered an asset if you have E-learning experience.

Pay Grade: EC 12 Salary Range: $3,458.20 - $4,322.75 Bi-Weekly
