Manager, Consulting

Halifax, NS, CA, Canada

Job Description

Who we are

You know those big cities that still feel like small towns? Where everyone's friendly and helps each other out? That's like Doane Grant Thornton. Except here we're all professionals and there isn't a mayor or a general store. What we're trying to say is that we're a large and growing professional services firm that still feels like a community. We employ over 3000 people across Canada, and we truly care about our colleagues, our clients and the communities where we work and live. That's what's most important to us. We're building a thriving organization that's purpose driven and still want to remember what your favourite milkshake flavour is.

Our consulting practice is working collaboratively everyday with new and existing clients of the firm. As a firm - we talk about being able to wrap our arms around our clients and their businesses, and our consulting practice rounds out our advisory offering to be able to look at our clients' people, process, and technology needs to get to the root of the challenges being faced today and the potential pain points of tomorrow. When people ask "what exactly do you do", our role as consultants is really about helping clients solve problems that they can't solve themselves. That 'can't' might be driven by a lack of knowledge or expertise, or, it might also be driven by a lack of capacity. And in some cases, clients may just need someone else from the 'outside' to help validate their thinking.

We approach client challenges from a broad lens or a very specific lens, depending on the nature of the issues they are facing and we work with them to scope engagements in a way that is right-sized. The reality is that every organization has opportunities to improve, and the Consulting team is here to help clients identify and action those opportunities for clients across industries and across the country. As a manager in our practice, you will play a key role in scoping and executing client engagements - having an opportunity to engage directly with Business Leaders and their teams on a daily basis.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the growth and delivery of a variety of consulting services across our people, process and technology pillars. This may include, but not be limited to:
• Culture assessments
• Strategic planning
• Organizational reviews

• Leading business development initiatives to support the growth of the consulting practice, including composing high quality and tailored proposals, budgets and project approaches
• Contributing to internal firm activities
