Responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of conferences, events, and meetings held on campus.. The role is the primary point of contact for both internal and external clients in terms of special event management. In addition, this role assists with the development of client proposals (RFP responses) for large event bids, and will represent Conference Services at local trade show events designed to attract new business.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and contract negotiation.
Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
Knowledge and experience of marketing, communications and management principles including monitoring and reporting analytics
Demonstrated experience and management of changing landscapes of communication/marketing opportunities for new business acquisition
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, manage multiple projects
Excellent communication skills and good judgement
Proficiency with event planning software, enterprise software, and technology devices
Demonstrable record in achieving substantial sales targets/quotas
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
Undergraduate University degree in Marketing, Business, Communication or related field
Minimum of three years of previous experience in sales experience in a hospitality, marketing or e-marketing, event management, or business, preferably in an educational setting. Substantive experience in developing and executing a business and/or marketing plan within a hospitality environment
