Position Summary





We are looking for a strategic and creative communicator to join our team as a Manager, Communications & Engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for storytelling, collaboration and building meaningful connections across an organization and with its communities. Reporting to the VP, Brand, Commuications & Engagement, the Manager leads the development and delivery of stratetiv communications that support JIBC's goals and strengthen its reputation. The role oversees internal communications and the Institute's intranet strategy to ensure employees are informed, engaged and connected, while also enhancing JIBC's external profile through proactive media, government and communicaty commuications.


In this role, you will develop and implement clear, engaging and inclusive communucations that reflect JIBC's values and advance instutuional priorties. You will lead a small, talented team to deliver compelling contect, strength employee engagement and ensure consisten messaging across all channels. The position also provides leadership in media relations and issues management, prepares key messages and advocacy materials and supports executive communications. As a leader, you will foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture, provide guidance and mentorship and champion JIBC's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization.



This role is ideal for a commuications professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a strong ability to craft strategic messages that inspire connection and build trust. The successful candidate will bring exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, strong judgement and a depp understading of how effective communication strengthens engagement, culture and reputation.

Qualifications & Requirements:




A bachelor's degree in communciations, public relations, journalism or a related field Minimim of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations or media relations, preferable in a public sector or post-secondary environment An equivalent combination of educaton and experience may be considered Proven ability to lead and implement institution-wide communications strateges Proven leadership and team development abilities, with experience mentoring communications professional and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture Experience and strategic expertise in media relations, including proactive reputation-building, high-level stakeholder engagement, spokesperson preparation and the management of complex, sensitive, or high-profile issues Strong understanding of government and or public sector communications, with demonstrated success in developing impactful briefing materials, advocacy toos and key messages that advace instituional priorities Advanced knowledge of digitial and social media strategy, including audience engagment, content development and analytics Exceptional strategic writing, editing and verbal communicatin skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive messages for diverse audiences Strong organizational and project leadership skills, with the capacity to manage multiple prioirities with a high degree of independence and adapt to evolving needs

What JIBC Offers:






We offer a total compensation package that includes a benefit plan, which includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits after three months, and enrollment in the College Pension Plan upon hire. In addition, we offer 20 vacation days and 10 Personal Days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as generous other leave entitlements.



Salary Range:





$

85,711

to $114,281 annually

The Compensation Range shown reflects JIBC's range for the role: between 85% and 100% of the sector range control point. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between 85% - 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications and experience for the role, with exceptions in the 95% - 100% range. (Remove for Faculty Equivalent keep for Excluded)

Work Arrangements:






This is a regular full-time (35 hours per week) position. The successful candidate must be within a commutable distance to the JIBC New Westminster campus. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.
