Manager, Communications & Digital Marketing \xe2\x80\x93 Trades NL (St. John\xe2\x80\x99s NL) Trades NL has an exciting story to tell, and you\xe2\x80\x99ll be helping us tell it. Trades NL is looking for an experienced, results-oriented Manager of Communications & Digital Marketing that is exceptional at digital and media relations and has a knack for storytelling. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and Director of Operations. The Manager, Communications & Digital Marketing will be responsible for planning and implementing Trades NL\xe2\x80\x99s communication strategy with a goal of maintaining and promoting the Trades NL brand, its members, and the industry it represents. You will roll up your sleeves to drive all content creation and execution, including media pitches, press releases, advertising, and social media campaigns. You will play a critical role in elevating Trades NL\xe2\x80\x99s brand awareness, creating a positive connection between our members and various stakeholders. The right candidate is a creative and hardworking individual who must be knowledgeable on the latest digital trends, and be proactive in incorporating these into effective external communications opportunities to positively highlight our industry and the 16 unions we represent - to positively increase the visibility of Trades NL members. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-5 Years experience in a communications, public relations and/or marketing role
  • University degree or equivalent education/experience in communications, public relations and/or marketing
  • Must have own transportation to travel to office location and to various other sites as needed
Job Duties: COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Create and maintain an ongoing calendar of Trades NL content and events
  • Create Trades NL collateral for print/digital distribution:
  • Infographics, posters, pamphlets, presentations etc.
  • Prepare press releases, media advisories, newsletters, emails, ad-hoc media comments etc.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute all branding opportunities for conferences and tradeshows
  • Field all media inquiries:
  • Work with Executive Director to create and schedule media opportunities
  • Develop and maintain positive media relations and liaise with external contacts
  • Create and prepare all key messages for media opportunities
  • Ensure continuous brand consistency for Trades NL and Trades NL: Indigenous Skilled Trades Office
  • Prepare correspondence to external parties on behalf of Executive Director when needed
  • Coordinate Trades NL\xe2\x80\x99s Four Community Giving Programs:
  • Track incoming applications
  • Work with selection committee to identify recipients of Trades NL Community Giving Programs, highlighting specific recipients within specified annual timeframes
  • Plan annual event for Trades NL Scholarship Recipients (Fall 2023)
  • Coordinate Trades NL Community Giving Partnership Plans according to contracts/stewardship plans:
  • Build strong relationships with Annual Community Giving Partners to ensure maximum opportunities for stewardship plans are met (i.e.: Kids Eat Smart)
  • Plan all communications and activities for local biennial Trades NL Education Conference (Next conference: Fall 2023)
  • Coordinate other Community Giving Initiatives as required
  • Provide ongoing communications advice and feedback to Executive Director and Director of Operations as it relates to communications strategy and outlook
  • Conduct presentations to Executive Board and Council and other stakeholders when needed
  • Find and facilitate funding opportunities to enhance overall communications budget
DIGITAL MARKETING:
  • Monitor, update and maintain websites
  • Monitor and maintain all social media channels according to Trades NL branding and communications policies
  • Monitor events and news impacting the industry
  • Plan and develop weekly comprehensive email campaigns to a variety of audiences
  • Manage all advertising (i.e., news outlets, websites, advertising through partner opportunities and conferences etc.)
  • Highlight stories about skilled tradespeople and the industry using different online mediums to publish stories
  • Create/publish videos to showcase themes, membership, and events
  • Improving Trades NL\xe2\x80\x99s brand awareness using digital media channels
  • Work closely with senior management to create and develop a strategy for integrated media campaigns:
  • Monitor impact and report on evaluation of campaigns

  • Ability to plan, shoot and create videos for publication across a variety of digital/social platforms:
  • Filming/Editing/Publishing
  • Utilize iMovie editing software
  • Proficient in Canva or other graphic design software
  • Proficient in Mailchimp or other marketing, automation & email platforms
  • Proficient in Hootsuite or other social media scheduling platforms
  • Proficient in WordPress (asset)
  • An understanding of the Newfoundland & Labrador provincial government landscape and stakeholders in the skilled trades industry (asset)
  • An understanding of internal board relations (asset)
