Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards, this role assumes the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day management of our Benefits, Retirement, and Wellness programs.

Working with team members and management and collaborating with site Human Resources and Operations leads, the Manager, Benefits, Wellness & Retirement leads the strategic planning, development, implementation, evaluation, governance, and continuous improvement Great Canadian Entertainment\'s retirement programs, group benefit plans, mental health & wellness strategy, and other employee benefit programs (i.e., employee & family assistance & team member discount programs)

This role requires strong subject matter experience in the benefits and pension within a union environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Participates in setting the over-arching philosophy and strategy related to benefits, wellness & leaves, retirement programs for the organization and ensures alignment of these programs and activities across all the Company\'s properties.
  • Provided subject matter expertise on health, life, retirement, and leave programs and policies including contract renewals, administration, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee the daily management of the benefits and retirement programs including enrollments, communications and training programs and provides consultative services and expertise for all areas and levels within the business.
  • Ensures that the Company\'s benefits and retirement programs are managed in a fiscally responsible manner through on-going cost and competitive analysis including managing the annual benefits rate renewal process.
  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements, trends, and developments in benefits offered by other organizations and by ensuring regular evaluation of the Company\'s competitive environments, benchmarking activities and gap analysis to support the Company in recruiting, retaining, and rewarding high-performing team members. Supports management\'s decision-making process by analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs.
  • Supports Finance and Operations teams during the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly accruals.
  • Provides leadership and direction to, and coaches members of the benefits, wellness and retirement team through frequent feedback, goals setting and performance discussions.
  • Provides training, coaching and advice to site Human Resources and Operations teams.
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders, internally, across all the Company\'s properties and with external vendors and partners.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on cross-functional projects for work relating to benefits, wellness and retirement and associated Human Resources programs, policies, processes, and systems.
  • Ensures that all benefits, wellness, leaves and retirement programs, policies, processes, and systems support and are aligned with providing a fair, equitable and positive experience for all team members.
  • Manages all aspects of an employee-focused wellness initiatives including program design, employee communications and program administration.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred certification as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or relevant experience is required.
  • Additionally, as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), with a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
  • Brings a wealth of expertise with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, specifically demonstrating mastery in retirement, wellness, and benefits program management, along with a minimum of 3 years in leadership roles.
  • Showcase in-depth knowledge and progressive experience in retirement, group benefits, disability management, and wellness programs. This includes comprehensive understanding of provincial legislation, governance, industry standards, best practices, and insurer arrangements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, offering insightful reviews and recommendations for strategy, program evaluation, continuous improvement, deployment, and execution.
  • Exhibit a track record of success in managing retirement, benefits, and wellness strategy development.
  • Comfortably communicate, present, and promote wellness initiatives across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in reviewing various utilization metrics and utilizing data analytics to gain insights on programs. Present these insights or recommendations to leadership in a clear, compelling manner that supports effective decision-making.
  • Excel in exceeding both internal and external expectations through timely, effective, and service-oriented communication.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with high volume and changing priorities.
